fun fact i wanted to be an electrician so i went to the absolute cheapest program in my area and it was 20k for a 10 month training program and no amount of scholarships, grants, fafsa, etc etc that i could reasonably get would pay for more than 7k of it. the other option that was given to me was "well your mom can take out a 13k loan and pay it back with 10% interest over the next ten years maximum" lol okay so i can either work a min wage job or put myself and my family in debt for most likely the rest of our lives. cool. anyways i dropped out of a community college after a semester because i could not physically hold down full time college and a job and, yknow, SURVIVE. "you can just go to college" no, you usually fuckin can't actually, dude.

The caller needs to look up the survivorship bias. Once he internalizes the definition, he'll be able to move forward.

i swear every single debate is just jovan saying “here’s the scientific studies on these things” and the debater going “well no i don’t think so. bcs it’s not facts” and when jovan asks them to back up their statements with facts they go “it’s my opinion so”

30:38 we have records of priests of Ishtar, mesopotamic goddess of love, fertility and war (that later is thought to have inspired the ethrurian Astarte and the Greek Aphrodites) being transgender. They were literally protected under the goddess' name, she had both male, female and transgender individuals as their priests, and we're talking about literally the beginning of human history, before that we only have things like fossilized reports and burial sites, and even then there's records of skeletons thought to be female (they can often be recognized by pelvic fracture occuring in childbirth) being buried with traditionally male funeral objects, indicating a non-rigid gender structure even before literally the beginning of human history, and all through that.

@@datadoesdorian It's hard to get what was going through his head. Every time they changed topics he kept coming out the gate aggressively, but best case that was him feeling like "but THIS ONE I'll get him on, there's no way he'll break my world view *again*". Also best case he actually took to heart what Jovan told him and basically actually conceded the point rather than pivoting in order to stop thinking about it. And of course worst case, vampire just out for blood and never managing to coax out his welcome.
