I started playing VRC out of boredom and loneliness during the first lockdown in 2020. I had my headset ordered within 2 weeks. Since then VRC has become like 75% of my social life. I still meet with real life friends and family just as much as I used to, but now I also spend around 10~15 hours a week in VRC meeting with online friends. (or drinking with, during drinking night. :P) Everyone being free to express themselves through their avatars is just magical for social settings. And for introverts like me it's such a huge plus that I can just go to a private world or take my headset off the moment I feel like I'm getting too tired or things are just becoming too much.

I seldom finish watch a long video specially it's in English because I need to spend time to understand it, but everything of this video is really catching my eyes. I also play VRChat few years and this is the first video I never see that really described how VRChat is. For me I met a lot a lot of people around the different countries and make friends, there are so many different ways and reason to keep people diving in it, as a street dancer in real world, we create a Dance community call "IDA" try to connecting all the vr dancers and real life dancers. Spent over two years and keep doing some dance battle, event or video project, we do get notified by VRChat, HTC vive and some famous dancers in real life, what I think is we are really doing something that will be important too, I know it is not like the shader or coding but it's in other way. The thing how people know each other without the words, the thing that people come from different countries and stay together at the same place same time, it's VR Dance! I felt really emotional when I saw this video, I just randomly see this on twitter and click in, there are tons of possible things going on more and more in VR and that what I really love! Although I am not a programmer but I really wanna have a chance to add you as a friend ❤️ (If I type something wrong in English plz forgive me qq)

this need to be available to stream on Netflix ngl, i dont i have programing or unity background, i think this game is for people who love to create, build and play.. people with a set of skills.. not for casuals like me, even worse i cant talk to people... i have zero communication skills .., but luckily enough i have one friend taking me to comiket event, and it blew my mind. since then i converted my Beatsaber avatar to VRC, do full body tracking, making shorts, chilin, dancing sleeping..learning a little about unity.. still have difficulty talking to people so i dont have many friends, but that's all right, i will take my time.. actually hearing people conversations, taking cool photos, witnessing people creativity with their avatars, is such a mesmerizing experience.. all im saying i have high respect, and very grateful to everyone who contribute their feelings and passion into this game.. and that includes u..! i hope VRC keep improving every year, and i believe the metaverse is already here.. inside this video.

There's so much in this video that you touched on that I'm very much emotional with because it's been an amazing experience. From just meeting up with friends and exploring art pieces to discovering dynamic activities, making reactive worlds, and setting up large social events (really an understatement), there's so much history to share that really gets overlooked from how overwhelming the readily apparent experiences can be. As a creator it's both encouraging and intimidating at times to try to tackle even simple interactions that may feel remotely intuitive. It's thanks to other creators that I've learned from that the Marimba Bar Cafe ever came into existence. In turn, I wouldn't be in the position I am today if I hadn't poured those hours into experimenting and learning just what's there. I can say that the community you've found is one I've loved every rare minute I've had with and would love to hear more about! Please dive into some worlds and share some stories of their development if you may! I'd be nervous for sure, but I wouldn't mind being a part of it as well if there's an opportunity.

I've been working as game developer for over 8 years now and I loved the way you described shaders at the start of the video. Treehouse in the Shade was one of the first worlds I accidently visited after getting my first VR headset and hopping into VRChat. The work they did on that world is absolutely amazing. I brought one of my co-workers on the game JUST to show him this world. We chilled and enjoyed every single one of the background options and we admired how much work must have gone into them and ways we would actually make the shader code ourselves if we wanted to. I absolutely loved your video. I haven't seen another video that describes VRC the way you did.

The main challenge these days, is just getting past the public worlds and "finding your people" as he puts it in the video. Compared to the past, VR is now cheap and popular enough that the average mental maturity in public lobbies (especially for the most populated worlds) has plummeted. So just bear that in mind when visiting. There's an amazing and vibrant world to discover within VR-Chat, home to many truly amazing people, but many newcomers do bounce off the surface before they discover it.

Such a good video, a month ago a friend got me into VR and I've found this community and new way people can create art. It's truly the new best medium for art beyond physical life. Hiho, Jaxen Beeper here! I'm a bit late (relatively speaking) to seeing this video, but it really perfectly encapsulates the VRChat experiences that I love so much. I've become utterly enamored with the creative side of avatar customization, and have found a re-spark in my artistic spirit that I'd felt I'd lost when it came to the 2D digital art I'd been doing essentially since Mario Paint. It's why I'm a chronic avatar swapper, and can never 100% settle on a consistent single one; I am constantly indulging my ADHD compulsions for the new, the fascinating, the gratifying, the novel by acquiring new models, customizing them, texturing them, playing with new ways to push my use of shaders. (It's actually why I changed my VRChat name from what it originally was: I was Jaxen Beaver, but changed it to Beeper -- because so many things can beep, and therefore it fits nearly any avatar!) But not only can I express myself creatively, I can make it an actual representation of myself, as myself. *I am my creations.* And my friends are their creations. And we inhabit worlds that are our creations. I have created, explored, played, danced, socialized, and bonded more during the age of COVID than I ever did before, because of VRChat. Your video is such a spot-on representation of how this platform makes me feel, and how enriched my life has become because of it. (Other people mentioned getting emotional over this video on the comments, and I am not ashamed to admit that I also got a bit misty.) (And as for my usher and guide, I cannot thank Allon Aurual enough for convincing me to attend Hex FurFest in late 2020 while still in Desktop Mode. Honestly life changing, as silly as that may sound.)

I'm seriously blown away by this video-essay, you put into light a world and lots of concepts and things i had never thought of, thank you so much for this (and also all your amazing and mind opening projects xD), you should totally try a different title and thumbnail tho (like most popular people in KZfaq do already considering how affective it seems to be), this video is just super well made and full of knowledge and experiences, it could totally blow up on KZfaq. Also, wait what, this video was 27 minutes? Time went flying while watching this, it really seemed like a 5 minutes one, good job again :D
@CNLohr
@CNLohr 2 жыл бұрын
I had considered many different titles and thumbnails, and this was the one I went with, well changing between "My" and "A" year in VRChat. Do you have any recommendations/
@creeloper27
@creeloper27 2 жыл бұрын
@@CNLohr Idk, I'm not into that part of KZfaq myself, tho maybe you could try something like "The Untold World of VRChat - My Experience" or "VRChat is Way More Than You Think - My Experience" or maybe even without " - My Experience", "The Untold World of VRChat" or "VRChat is Way More Than You Think" and maybe in the thumbnail switching the "My Year In" with "1 Year", just to create a bit more mystery and curiosity. I think that could work better, tho like any good programmer: "THE TIP IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE."
