I love Dim Sum. It's been ages since I last had it, before Covid. You got me wanting to go and try some again.

Ridiculous variety of dim sum! They are all so beautiful to see and delicious to eat :) I appreciate the relaxed decor and the culinary skill that went into preparing these dishes. Even the wellness drink is so inviting! The Crispy Beef Short Ribs were fabulous! I did not think the salad would stand a chance in such elite company, but it seems great too!! To end the meal with the Fried Sesame Rice Ball: a wonderful dessert :) You have a wonderful way of presenting food, and educating the audience: I am grateful to you! Thank you, Clark, and happy weekend!

Changing the recipe of TRADITIONAL Dim Sum isn't authentic Dim Sum... it's something new for people who think adding new ingrediants will add new dimensions. Sure but you can't call it traditional if they are going that route. You lost me at Oats... and besides the colour of the crispy squid tentacles wasn't the traditional cooking recipe for that dish. It's supposed to be stir fried and curried meaning yellow in colour and not brown like that. Then the oats threw me. So no.. not traditional anything. And besides, the decor doesn't scream traditional Chinese restaurant. It screams pretentious health spa. Thankfully he chewed with his mouth closed. Shui Maai is made with RED fish roe traditionally. Black Roe is French influence. After that I stopped watching as it no longer held an interest to me. Claiming tradition yet sh*tting on tradition by changing it to different cooking method and adding new ingrediants isn't traditional. No thanks. And the B.S. about pedalling healthy living. All Chinese food is healthy eating... its people who don't know how to balance a meal are the clueless ones who think all Chinese food is greasy and unhealthy or funniest yet. not filling at all.

Respectfully I disagree, I believe you can bring together tradition and innovation. But you have your opinion and that's cool - where would you recommend people go for dim sum?

@@IGetFood My point was the use of the word, "traditional". Changing anything or adding to it doesn't make it traditional anymore. Even changing the red roe to black changes the dynamic of the traditional dish. Red roe is subtle, black roe is sharper in flavour with more umani and salt. I liked the old push cart restaurants who hired real Dim Sum chefs from the mainland and brought them here just for their restaurant. One such place was of course in Scarborough at the NE corner of Kennedy and Sheppard Ave E. They were called, "Very Fair Chinese Restaurant" and they were in the basement of that building and even had both stairs and an elevator servicing their floor. Their push cart services including push carts with a gas stove so servers literally cooked items like fried turnip cake fresh off the grill at your table. But sadly they closed about 6 months after the pandemic began back in 2020. But there were there at least 20 years. Sad to see them go. My next choice would have to be Rosewood in DT Chinatown on the south side of Dundas at 463 Dundas St W. They are a block and a half east of Spadina or 5 stores before you reach Huron St. They serve traditional HK style Dim Sum all day and have been doing it for at least 20 years now. They don't do push cart service. We order off a slip and it is brought out all at once. But they do offer an All-You-Can-Eat option or A La Carte. Lunch is served between 11AM and 3PM and Dinner is 5PM to 3AM. A la Carte is $4.99 to $6.99 per Dim Sum item, or dinner is $4.99 to $9.99 for the same Dim Sum menu (there are 4 chef special Dim Sum plates at $9.99 which are only served at dinner service). They also have a fix rate plate service for adding 20+ full plate menu items like Sweet-n-sour pork, chicken or fish. Fried rice, and various traditional stir fry dishes. I went for Lunch with a friend recently. We ordered A' la Carte and over ordered because we ended up each taking a full takeout box home. Their AYCE option for Lunch is $34.99 per person, or Dinner $36.99 and IMO one could not eat enough Dim Sum in a 2 hr limit to make up $34.99 or $36.99 so A' la Carte is the better option. Their busy period is 11AM to 1:30PM. We did get a seat but it was on the second floor where the smaller tables are. The first floor is for parties of 6-12.
