I recently bought the 43mm version on the rare Moser bracelet. Mine is the Mad Swiss Red Fumé dial. In my opinion it's one of the best red dials you can get. The fumé finish takes the edge off the bold red and allows it to be far more subtle. And yet still flash red when the light hits it right. I can tell you that the 43mm Pioneer does wear large. So I can see why Moser have started doing the 40mm version. In fact, I'm given to understand that they'll be discontinuing most, if not all, of the 43mm versions from the Pioneer collection this year (if they have not done so already). So when they start rolling out the 40mm ones in more colourways, it will make this model more accessible, at least in terms of wearability.

Beautiful watch, I love the sunberst dial, I would love to see a 38mm version of this model. But that $14,000 price point is to much for my pocket.

Great video, great watch. I went to a birthday dinner, and a friend of a friend at the dinner collects watches. I always like to see what hes got on, cuz he has some heavy hitters. At the dinner, I asked what he was wearing and he said he had a Moser. I smiled because I was the only one there who knew. One guy said it wasn't even a nice watch, which made me smile more. It was beautiful. The dial shined stunningly. The blue is just a perfect color blue.

This is just the sort of video I love. I feel like I am actually learning something that is not in every other video on KZfaq.

Great review Teddy. I've been a customer since 2022 and I've only recently subscribed to your KZfaq channel. It's refreshing that you review brands that you don't carry. I wasn't familiar with Moser and I have to say that I like the the Pioneer model you reviewed very much (I am a big fan of a beautiful blue dial). It's simple and very elegant and I've become somewhat enamored with in-house movements I very recently bought a Damasko DC96 Center Minutes Chronograph (with a blue dial of course), so I'm not in the market for a new watch at the moment: however I also just bought a bigger watch box that needs filling up, so down the road, who knows?

That movement on the back is such a breath of fresh air. It's simplistic and has just the right amount of intricacy. Nothing against Lange, but their movements are so busy and hard on the eyes at times. This is so much more easy to look at!

Love it!! And I really love the streamliner small seconds, an absolutely beautiful timepiece.

I newly own this watch and love it. I love the simplicity topside and the movement’s complexity exhibited beneath. I’m convinced the Artic Blue dial is powered by some mystical force, or at the least, a newly discovered element from Schaffhausen. That dial has a life of its own. Others have noticed the light effects too, on the earlier Pioneer’s 42.8 mm fumé dials. I am getting used to the polished applied indices (light explodes off them) and, anyway need to wear brighter clothing besides matte black and grays. I love the fact that “H. Moser & Cie.” is etched on the front, but it’s hard to see unless the light is just right. I love Moser’s irreverent ads and firmly believe my Pioneer will start talking to me like Edouard’s (see the latest ad, it’s funny). Tolkien’s elves trained Moser’s artisans. It’s true. I’m new to the watch world and had no clue about the Submariner craze and how it’s impossible to buy a new one. I still love the Submariner’s aesthetic and, in general, gritty nature of a tool watch. Over the past decades, I ran into-the-ground two decent Tag Heuer’s. I’ve also worn a large Luminox for visibility along with GPS devices. I looked at all sorts of watches for weeks and visited a couple of local shops. I chose the Pioneer over a pre-owned Submariner for the about same price. I couldn’t be happier with my decision. I’ve got a “piece of art hiding as a timepiece” (said by a wise soul about the Endeavour Perpetual Calendar in blue enamel and Tantalum .. see Teddy’s review), which is the best way I think to describe all Moser watches. I am thankful I have the means to splurge on this watch. (And, must stop thinking about anything Tantalum).

What a wonderful blue dial. When this piece catches the sun's rays..wow. Also credit to Moser for putting a square movement in a square alp watch. Very rarely see a square movement. Looks really nice.

Maintenance becomes a concern for independent brands. When things go wrong or you need to service, it can become a very long and expensive exercise as opposed to the mainstream luxury models. They are also free from maintaining a service standard and can get to your repair at their discretion.

The dial is missing some refinement, delicacy, and sophistication associated with a luxury brand. It is probably due to the indices, they are too big, blunt, ungraceful, and not in harmony with the hands. Those lume dots look like an afterthought. Arctic Blue fumé is very nice. "The brand logo [...] set in transparent lacquer that can only really be seen at certain angles as the light catches it against the sunburst pattern" is excellent.

If I had 14 large burning a hole in my pocket I would be contacting you right now. I have been waiting patiently for a 40 mm Pioneer ever since I first saw the 42 mm version, but alas, just not the right time now. Hopefully some day soon I'll be able to make that call.

why we buy luxury watches ? because it is a culture of a lifestyle that is useable, for example we like antique vintage cars but they are not useable daily , not available and not produced anymore the way they used to be , a good watch with history that is being produced till now from same company with its heritage design can be used , enjoyed and obtained .

Moser's definitely been growing on me. BUT, I think i'd still take a Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix with the bracelet over this (I know it's not a "sports" watch, but in terms of haute horlogerie pricing, it's one of the few competitors). The opinion might change in a few months

Stunning piece. You can’t charge me $14k for a sports watch and half ass the lume. I appreciate the real money is in the finish & movement but in those price points, nothing should be, meh.

Looking at this I realize how absurdly affordable Grand Seiko is. For the same amount of money I could get a Tentagraph with a better movement, the same finishing on the movement, better finishing overall, similar dial finishing and obviously better accuracy. Or I could save about 4K and get an omiwatari, giving up water resistance.

No date window is a bummer. Not like I could ever afford it anyway lol

I have the larger version of this Pioneer and absolutely love it. The movement is amazing and is so smooth to set. I get more complements on it than many of the other watches I wear. I am definitely interested in seeing how the 40 mm fits when my retailer gets one!

Unpopular opinion: The Pioneer is the most legible watch in low light conditions. I know this seems counterintuitive, but I have owned a lot of watches and this was the easiest to tell time with in the dark.

the movements and finishing are beautiful. for me however their designs remind me of cheap fashion variants. sure i'd own one (inherit, gift, lottery, garage sale find) but wouldn't wear one...which means i wouldn't buy one. your mileage will certainly vary.

Moser is super beautiful yet too expensive. waiting for some Chinese manufacturer to surpass them for a 10/1 of the price.

Recent visit to watches of Switzerland in Vegas allowed me my first chance to see a Moser. It’s true that even from untrained eyes that I spotted it in the display from across the room - and that’s with plenty of great watches all around. Moser’s dial really grabs attention and it’s the type of attention purely for its aesthetic - not a “hype brand”.

It's an advert for Moser. There again, it doesn't matter too much, because I can barely understand a word that he says !

I have heard Teddy oversimplify on this point a few times - do you need a watch? No. Are watches still useful? Absolutely. If for no other reason than it saves you from taking your phone out of your pocket many times per day. Watches are not just jewelry. Not yet anyway.

3hz movement on a rubber band for $14,200? Very innovative. HMC had to lower the movement to 3hz to even get 72hr while GS has 120hrs and GO has 100hrs with a 4hz movement for less. GO has much better finishing and both GS and GO also come on a bracelet. This has to be the most overpriced brands out there.

Only a goofy ass brand like Hoser would insist that their sports watch looks exactly like a dress watch. LMAO Moser well played again. That's an amazing price for the brand too
