I should have known metal casting was harder than it looks. This guy does it in a way that makes it look easy and cool, but here are the Behind The Scenes. Edit: A lot of you guys are saying the opposite that its actually easier. I looked through and some parts are intentionally failed.

@@The_child-catcher yeah that one I’ve done personally. When glass doesn’t expand uniformly it shatters I believe. Done it with glass cookware on a stovetop that was still hot

@@bauerleinjohnits cold water and a hot metal bead hitting the bottom causes temperature stress to the glass and it shatters. Ive had a mug explode in my hand after pouring out a hot coffee(a bug landed in it) and rinsing it with cold water immediatelly

I've always heard about preheating metal mould before pouring. From what I learned a cold can sweat due to the temperature difference and in turn causes the poured metal to pop and explode.

@@keiztrat defenitly something that people should look into if they are going to do it. I learned it around 15 years ago when I use to make my own bank sinkers for fishing, carried it over to sand casting by spritzing it with a propane torch before putting it together and pouring.

Man... not to hate or complain on you at all, cause this is great stuff. But maybe I should start filming more casting projects that I do. I'm a blacksmith and have a small channel. Trying to build it up while I get my business of he ground and take care of family. I'd love 23,000 views. I mostly forge but I do cast parts when a project needs it, or by commission. Preheat the mould and create separate sprews for the air to escape. All those fails were from the air bubbles launching your metal out or getting trapped.

Heat looks a little inconsistent, could be part of the issue. Do you preheat the moulds at all? I've seen that fix some of the boiling gas that gets released during the pour. Thanks for sharing the failures, lot of integrity and respect imo.

You need to add a vent and preheat your cast before you add the molten material. Any moisture trapped in there will turn to steam, as well as get trapped in lower areas of the mold.

Heat your molds to 1000°F then pour your metal. I cast jewelry for 15 years. I know it will help fill the mold completely. And less spilled.

The main things that seems to cause the fails is wind and to fast of pour speed. This crap happens to me anytime I cast; all the conditions have to be just right

The first one you meeded a much bigger jar cause the metal is still too hot and when it touched the glass it caused stress. A big glass vase also would work.
