We rescued a raccoon cub when I was a kid. I can’t remember how long we had him, but he was one of THE BEST 4 legged family members we ever had. Slept with me every night, and even waited for me at the door everyday until I came home from school. We had to release him because he was getting so big, and he would come back every month to say high, then leave again. This went on for years, until I can only assume he passed. His name was Alabama (that was the hotel in Orlando we found him at) and I loved him so much, and he clearly loved me. Thanks for reading. This video brought back some AMAZING memories! I hope your baby is doing well!

Definitely should have contacted a wildlife rehabilitator so this precious animal could be returned to the wild. They obviously care for it but it's not in the best long-term interests of the animals to turn it into a pet

We just had this experience with a baby squirrel and called the wildlife people. They said a lot of times when there are storms, floods, etc. babies get bumped out knocked out of their nests and get lost. That's why it's important that you do not handle it a whole lot because it will get reliant on humans and not be able to return to the wild. This happens so often and then nature rejects the animal as do the people who obviously don't want a raccoon in their house and it has no chance of going back to the wild.

@@AnjelinaBlank Sometimes people are being blinded by the clips they just viewed and forgot that they are being brainwashed into believing something that it's not true. I believe you know about a channel that is using a Greenscreen and Cropping+Editing backgrounds of the AGT competition and the person is always pretending to sing all the songs he never sang in front of the AGT judges? Tons of people actually believe him and they all think that his voice so angelic, that he should get gold buzzer, etc etc

The raccoon is my spirit animal. I have fed many, singly and entire families. They take food from my hands and the feel of those warm soft hands patting mine swells my heart. In May 2023 we had to spend over $2,000 to get rid of a family of SEVEN! raccoons...Huge Papa, big Mama and five adorable babies....all happily settled in the basement of our 1910 Calif. Bungalow...that price was after about $600 in deductions given as it was an emergency plus a senior discount...the emergency? My darling big guy, my dearest husband, just home from TWO WEEKS in Intensive Care Unit and another week waiting for someone to tell us there was no help for his literal broken heart....we chose Hospice and when he got home it was late May here in the San Joaquin Valley and getting HOT...our A/C decided to NOT turn on...panic mode for us all with my sweetie on Oxygen...my daughter took over, though in another state between visits to help us, she found a wonderful pest control company, family owned and with the very strict CA laws regarding wildlife , it had to be poison free, trap free, humane catch and release...what an adventure! We saw the babies rescued from the dark corner hiding places, carried out by heavily gloved (to their elbows!) laughing workers who held the screaming little ones, howling like the newborns they were! The owner of company brought in two of the babies, one in each gloved hand, for my curious husband to see.,..it was a happy time for us all, and worth the money.... next morning all the babies had been taken away, one by one, from the box fixed for them in the backyard by their parents who had been scared away by loud music and banging, the only way they could get them out of the basement. Those innocent creatures only wanted peace and safety for their family, like all of us. My animal lover husband passed on Aug 8 2023, in the peace he wanted, pain free, truly loved and with his old Chihuahua at his side. Thank you for reading this.

@@World_of_Drama no one ''Rescued'' that baby raccoon. Thats like saying'ohh look i found your lost child and now I"m not returning it. I will keep it isolated from the rest of its family and own kind for my own selfish wants. This isnt a 'rescue' it is the opposite of that. open your eyes.

We had two when I was a kid! I loved them but when they hit puberty they are still a wild animal. I was heartbroken the first night they didn't come home. Thank you for this!!!

In the 1960s my grandmother had a raccoon she rescued just like this one. She kept it for a couple years until it was an adult. One day out of nowhere the animal attacked her calf muscle, requiring a few stitches. She wasn’t fazed, she said she always knew it was a wild animal.

For a few years when I was growing up. I lived next door to a animal game reserve. At night had a family of raccoons that came up, then as the baby's got old enough they must of been kicked out on there own as they started to come up 1 at a time.. It amazed me how one would love to sit and hit my bike peddle watching the peddle reflector spin while it's sibling was more into showing off so it would climb up my bike on to the cut out window of the patio and it would hang up side down showing off... We never stayed outside with them but we did put a dish down for each of them... It was cool to see but made me respect the danger they could do to flesh if they got there claws or teeth into me.. I was happy to watch them do there thing on the other side of the glass sliding door and let them be wild animals that could play and have a bit of fun with a meal... Let me tell you if there was not food out there, the first one would climb the screen door to about the middle and shake it so its body slammed into the glass.... 30 pound coon can make a heck of a ruckus if it wants to!!!
