I got the dark side of the moon version a month ago after going back and forth on it for about a year. As soon as I opened up the box my first thought was, “this is the size everyone is worried about?” I can only speak of the black one but it does not wear huge like everyone is worried about… 7” wrist btw

Just got one for $700 new from an authorized dealer. It’s a great time piece, my first at this price after much research. The space tie in, the fact that he was wearing this for the first lunar rover drive and as a car guy and fan of NASA this was a no brainer.

I like the way this looks. But it does wear big. I've said it before, but if Bulova would offer this in a smaller variance, Say 42 or 40 it would would a complete home run. Don't get me wrong I still like this piece. Thanks for sharing Teddy!

I've seen both versions in person. The black one does wear big and although this one is the same but different in color it looks AMAZING on my small wrist. Will definitely look for black Friday deals.

The problem is not the actual size of the watch but the excessive lug to lug width.

@@carlmanu exactly. problem is if the shorten the lugs it changes the design so they have to shrink down the whole case. i own the bracelet version and will probably never part with the watch unless they were to make a smaller version. it doesn't look too big on my 8" wrist but 41 or 40mm case would be much more comfortable.

I can’t believe how smooth the seconds hand sweep is with that incredibly high beat rate! Really makes my usual issue with quartz watches disappear. Now, if only they could get the water resistance up to 100m, I’d have both variants!

If you’re referring to the big chrono hand, it actually only sweeps when the chrono is engaged. The second hand is on the bottom window with the .262 KHZ. I know because I was confused when I bought a lunar pilot and mistakenly thought the watch was broken. Most review videos leave the chronograph running, giving the impression that it has a smooth sweeping “seconds” hand.

@@eddiek1231 an easy mistake. I see the question on quite a few FB watch groups where anyone buys a Chronograph for the first time thinking the watch is broken. Luke, 100m WR would have been nice, but I haven’t had a single issue with my dark side model. I got caught in rain the other day, I was drenched. The watch was fine. I’m glad it doesn’t have “water resistance”. Being 30m. Only watches I trust with that rating are Casio. I had a Seiko SNK809 that got ruined just by washing my hands.

You can fine tune the tenths too (crown out/bottom button). Zeroing the tenths before the review would have helped.

The LTD is gorgeous. It adds an elegance to the otherwise clumsy looking production model, and I think that will bring down the presence and make it wearable on more wrists.

Love my original re-release on the steel bracelet (cheap man's Speedmaster alternative). Picked it up during a deep sale over the summer so there was no way I could say no. In terms of size, it is a big watch, but with 7" wrists and large forearms, I think I pull it off rather well, although I wouldn't want to go larger.

I’m not usually a two tone guy at all. But this model does pop. I have the all black model. Wearing it while I type this. I absolutely love it, and while I have a small but varying collection, this is the most beautiful watch I own in my opinion. Interesting seeing the lume on the dial being a little less luminous than the hands. My all black model is more uniform. And I don’t have any issues seeing the time at 3am when I get up to pee.

Good video Teddy....I'm in the camp that misses the date on this LE as I just got the 96B251 regular reference with the strap and date ....just one point.....I think a lot of people would be interested in this Chrono as an alternative if they missed out on the Apollo 11 50th anniversary Speedy....

The bad thing about this watch is that it uses a silver oxide battery that might leak. Not as good a movement as the accutron 2 counterpart using the never leaking lithium cell.

It's a pilot/moon watch, so it's gonna be a big'un. Probably the only time it pays to have a big wrist. I have the Dark Side version on black di-modell chronissimo leather straps with white stitching. And got the LTD in Sept of this year. I love what they did here. It really feels like a LTD edition. Titanium, touch of gold, it really is a nice package. I just love the history, and love the movement in the LPs. And it scratches my Speedy itch, without having to wind that small crown daily and have it serviced. :)

I just got this watch and boy do I feel special. I'm just sitting here with a cup of tea admiring the damn thing lol I'm even obsessed with the coin and the box 😅 there's a little surprise underneath the lid of the box when you open it but I'll leave that between me and other owners. I'm so happy 😅😁

there is nothing wrong with the bulova moon watch except it can measure up till only 59mins 59sec .plus the original B moonwatch is actually mechanical but this is high end quartz technology , it ain't really the same feel and movement unlike the Omega moonwatch and seems like a cheap attempt to trick people to buy. More chronograph should actually have 12 hours chronographs like some seiko meca quartz or quartz models

Well said. An hour timer is so much more use than tenths of second. Anyone needing tenths in reality needs hundredths of a second, in which case you need a digital watch.

What are the chances that after Bulova is done with this run they make a non-limited edition version of this watch? If I’m not mistaken don’t they have a Apollo lunar version of the original with the engraving on the back As well as just the regular version? I really like the watch but Can’t justify paying $1000 for limited addition which jumps the price up almost 70%

Bulova has some really nice designs. I wish they would offer premium materials though, along with slightly better finishing. That should be gold, not gold tone, bezel, etc. If you're going to make it limited edition, then go all the way.

As usual a great and informative review but no matter how much this Bulova "moon" watch is dressed up the fact that its 45 mm size is way too big for the 7.7 billion of us who are under 6 ft 6" and weigh less than 300 lb will never change.

A beadblasted, plain titanium with the commemorative caseback would have been a far more attractive 50th anniversity adventurer's watch. I love my personal Lunar Pilot, but nothing about this pimped-out, gaudy, two-tone is attractive to me. (Well . . . maybe the gold second hand for a Golden Anniversary of Apollo 15.)

a watch nobody asked for, titanium, who cares, was already a light watch its quartz lol. the constant thing everybody says about this watch is the lug to lug is way to big, un-wearable for most, even myself who has 44mm watches that are fine. bulova, even if you leave the case size 43mm, reduce the lug to lug ffs, its what ppl really would appreciate on this thing.
