There's this joke here in Sweden that Swedes only like each other when we're abroad on vacation and there is a bit of truth to it. Never really thought about why it is before but I think that this might be the explanation for it.

Yeah dude its a great feeling. I guess native english speakers cant really relate as English is spoken pretty much anywhere, but it touches your heart. I actually had no idea that this guy was romanian like myself, but i live abroad and it has happened to me a couple times for people to say a few words in romanian to me when i least expected it. Its always a great feeling

In Utah, you often find yourself surrounded a bunch of white people who fluently speak languages from around the world. In my friend group alone there are people who speak Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Filipino and Malaysian. I personally served a 2 year mission in the Philippines and got to learn Filipino (Tagalog).

@@JHulse29 He probably didn't think they were just visiting the US when he asked that question. It's not unusual for someone who immigrated young to speak their native language poorly. Especially a language like Romanian that wouldn't be heard much outside of the home in the US. I don't speak Romanian, but I've seen other people say that Sebastian is fluent but speaks it with a very noticeable American accent because he's been in the US for most of his life.
