This new camera is revelatory. We can see your real skin and even the brush strokes in your foundation. It really looks like my makeup does as I’m applying it. Even though I’ve always known that what we see on KZfaq is not reality, I still tend to be unhappy with my own application when trying to reproduce a look I’ve seen. This has really made me be more realistic with my own expectations. Thanks so much for your investment!

After getting the Daniel Sandler blushes, every time I've used them I have had the same "oh no, I look sunburned" freak out, and I think it's part of it. Take it a little too far, and then back it out. Also, just love your take on crazy 2020. Right there with ya. My kids are older, but I definitely remember those early months. You're doing great! Be proud of yourself!

My mom used to tell me how amazing breast feeding was when she had me and how she was judged because most women used formula. My grandmother didn’t understand why my mom wanted to breastfeed. Well then cut to my first child (9 yrs ago) and I thought I’d also be a breastfeeding pro and yea no. I was not a pro. It was so hard and my milk never really fully came in. I started supplemental formula and finished breastfeeding fully at 11 weeks. Whatever way works best for you and Simon is best! Wishing you all the best! I’m so glad I found your channel this year.

thank you for being so open with your personal story and feelings, I think white knuckling in 2020 has come in a package with an artificial front of “yeah, I’m ok” for many. Can I just say, I love how you’re going full crazy on all hourglass products after you realised how amazing they are! My absolute top is the Lightning palette (permanent 3 pot) edit - hit pan fully on all 3 shades on a couple of those even though I prefer cream products... it’s instagram filter in a palette... it’s totally perfect for your make up theory where you have a diffused colour and then a local colour - absolutely epic for an overall diffused colour on eyes, face and all!

This year has been super stressful and emotional for me too. I haven’t suffered as much as some people have, but I have learned so much about myself. I would like to not have to unpack it for years, though. I’m more of the type of person who likes to let it all go and put it behind me. I’m a critical care nurse so Covid has been a huge part of my life for the last almost year. Also, my husband is a police officer, so the political climate has played a large part in our lives also. We have a 10 year old daughter and we just found out we’re pregnant, which we are super excited about. I think the events of 2020 have forever changed me, but I don’t feel upset or traumatized. I’m glad that I have changed and grown. I want to continue to do so.

I needed this video more than I could have known! I've been telling myself that I've been lucky to be in such a good position compared to what others have dealt with this year. I'm proud that I was able to successfully transition to teaching online and I've worked to take care of myself this year. I'm also sad that my wedding was postponed and I've spent a lot of time telling myself that it wasn't a big deal and it was selfish to feel sad about it. We now have important family members that won't be able to make it because of poor health and it's been really hard emotionally. You made me feel so much better about feeling the way that I really feel. Thank you for being your amazing self, Kackie!

You are so damn insightful! I nodded vigorous through this whole thing, especially what you said about perfectionism/motherhood. I so frequently feel like an utterly failed version of the “perfect” mom I somewhere deepdown thought I’d be-and as much as I know other people feel this way, hearing you talk about it was so damn comforting. Love you and what you give all of us, mama❤️

Always so well spoken ❤️ watching your videos has certainly been a very happy distraction this year! My personal 2020 hasn’t been much to complain about and I’m very grateful, though like you I had to cancel an exciting trip, my first time traveling outside the US, to Japan. I’ve wanted to visit there my whole life and I was meant to leave just a week after lockdown! But I will go in the future. My best friend has had a really hard year with work and having to postpone her wedding, and she lives far away, so seeing her go through all the disappointment without being there to support her more was hard. I think this year has helped me to be more grateful for the little things in life and just not to take the world for granted; to really care about fellow humans. Anyway, this is long but you wanted us to share haha. And I’m running headlong into ALL the Christmas decor too, it’s the reward and comfort we all need after getting through this year!

I have just recently found your channel and been obsessed with it since. First off I want to thank you for all your content and your personal journey as well. I'll share a bit about me. I've recently been going through a huge health journey as I turned middle-aged, the big 50 last year. Diagnosed with cancer and had tried alternative/holistic methods which did not work at ALL. Cancer grew enormously. I was devastated as I have been dealing with health challenges since 2008 with Lyme and had at the time switched my whole life around by going gluten and dairy free, non Gmo, went organic free range meats, cut out all the junk processed stuff and ditched all the toxic chemicals from my home with less toxic versions from the local co-op near me. With that said, the selection for less toxic clean beauty is not great at the Co-op and only knew about Tarte and bare minerals as brands for clean beauty. I stumbled across your channel and was searching for clean beauty for mature skin. Albeit, your a young woman but you drew me in with all your thoughts on clean brands I had no idea even existed. I think I was living in a cave for all those years. I was to sick to drive and never got out much, so I never even thought to Google it to be honest. Now that I am feeling somewhat better I noticed my skin has changed drastically from allopathic conventional cancer treatments. I was always grateful for having great skin and not looking my age but that all changed in a short time. I feel I need to wear makeup or I look like a walking corpse now. Sunken eyes with wrinkles and bad tea stained eyelids, uneven skin tone with I guess what they call age spots, lost 3/4ths of my hair on my brows and drastic thinning of my head hair. So its been a real challenge for me to learn how to color correct and apply makeup for this skin i never had until now. I'm thankful for all your reviews on clean makeup and never realized that drugstore makeup had some clean budget friendly brands as well. I actually took notes on all the brands you reviewed from the many videos I watched so I can peruse their websites.Haha. I bought a few things from Thrive yesterday as well as Tower 28 and Honest beauty. I'm hoping they work as well as they did for you. I'm also brown eyes, brown hair light to medium skin tone with neutral to very slight yellow undertones but my lips and eyelids have a slight blue cast under the tea stains. Cool colors never felt like a match for me and always leaned toward the warm colors. Maybe I'm wrong as I never really HAD to fuss with makeup. I wore it to enhance things. Sorry so long but I wanted to thank you for content and that I appreciate that you're down to earth, funny, silly and great at explaining the feel of the products. TY!!

I found your channel this year! I originally came searching for info about Ilia, but stuck around for the informative and articulate commentary that is simultaneously a comforting escape of the constant, low grade trauma (very well put lol) of this year 😬 My husband and I were both in the boat with our jobs of will it/won’t it be bad?? Watching coworkers, friends, and family get laid off or furloughed. But thankfully things calmed down a bit job-wise, and so we decided to take advantage of the situation. We finally took the time to focus and pay off our credit card debt...like a lot of debt. It was like this huge burden was lifted from my shoulders. Im thankful to 2020 for putting important things like that back into my line of sight. But here’s hoping that we can all go back to drinking margaritas at an outdoor concert in the summertime🍹🧉

Thanks so much for this chat! I'm in a similar boat to you where the majority of my struggle this year has been emotional. That being said, being at home so much encouraged me to take the time to start my own channel this year! Just having a chance to be more creative with my makeup (because who's going to see it anyway, right??) has been so freeing for me when I feel trapped in a lot of ways/by a lot of things. A couple days late to this party as per ❤️ still thought I’d share my 2020 story with the blush fam. This year has actually made me so so grateful for everything in my life. I moved away from my home in Ireland in 2018, and have been living in Canada since June 2019. Went home to see family for the first time in 18 months at Christmas last year, so I started my 2020 so full of guilt at being the child living abroad with my parents getting older, and so much uncertainty at where I wanted to be. A silver lining of COVID lockdown was that any choice was taken out of my hands - I had no idea when I was gonna get home again so it weirdly took a lot of uncertainty and guilt off my shoulders. I’m so grateful I have a beautiful little apartment to live in, that my job has been able to transition to WFH with no interruptions, I’ve been able to spend more time than ever with my wonderful partner and we still like each other (more than ever really) - if we were in Ireland right now we’d likely not be able to see each other for months on end. 2020 has been hard as all hell, but my little silver linings have made it all the more bearable, even being so far away from the people I love. And when my silver linings haven’t done the trick, your videos and sharing your little joys (and the big baby shaped joys!) this year have kept me going ❤️ thanks for this video Kackie, it’s very cathartic in a way to just stop and reflect on the good this year. ok I’ll stop over sharing now thanks byeee ❤️

Kackie, I am so grateful to your, your content and just your beautiful energy. Prior to qurantine, I never had the time to just calm my pace and take the time to listen to any videos on KZfaq and you have been my saving grace. I am a44 year old woman who has had the same makeup look for 25 years (no joke, I got the least changed at my 20 year HS reunion). I have learned so much from you about makeup, ingredients, application and clean brands. I really appreciate your knowledge. For many years I would pluck my eyelashes due to stress and I purchased Thrive mascara after seeing how beautiful your lashes were. I LOVE IT! It has helped the health of my lashes and I no longer pluck them out as the formulation is smooth and is like a protective barrier. I know have purchased the majority of Thrive make up and really love it all. Thank you for always being so transparent and when I hear you it relaxes me and makes me feel like we are jsut chatting away 1:1. Thank you so much and I wish you nothing but health & happiness.

And my oldest son turns 18 at the end of next month😭 I had him at 22 and my second son 6 years later. My breast feeding experience ended with my first born because I was to afraid to try again. I felt like a failure. It broke my heart. I still feel bad about it. So I totally get the perfectionism. But you are doing great. And I really miss when my boys were smaller. Though I will admit there are perks to having a 6th grader, and a 12th grader.

I found you earlier this year and it was the video where you decided to stop filtering yourself and talked about how pregnancy sucked and I thought “she’s my people.” I too didn’t love pregnancy and appreciated your honesty through that time and also your blogs about motherhood. I have an almost 3 year old and it’s cool to listen to you and remember those days. 2020 brought a lot of anxiety and stress for me and I found myself escaping reality in KZfaq makeup. Also, I’ve never been a big blush girl, but here I am, self medicating 2020 with blushes thanks to you 🤣

Hi Kackie I don’t usually write comments or even hit the like buttons- it’s hard to do so when I watch videos on my tv. I had to look for my mobile to write this. I want to congratulate you for having your baby! It’s a big moment wish you all the best.

Honestly this whole year has been like that meme of the dog in the burning house saying “this is fine” and I have never related more. A lot of things this year have finally been put into motion and this year overall has been about tension that has been growing finally being released. I want to celebrate but there is still a lot to be done especially as someone from Georgia where our two senators are up for election so we need to work. So for me I still need to buckle down and do. Thanks for this video though it helps calm me down :)

2020, on a Friday the 13th. Maybe two negatives with cancel each other out for a positive and the world will be good again. Now on with the video!😁 Also, that eyeshadow pallet is pretty, and I don't need to be buying it, so I'm hoping you hate the formula 😅.

Some friends and I were talking about that exact thing!... since our workplace closed on the last Friday the 13th, we wondered if this one will flip this uncomfortable year back right side up!

Have you seen Lab Muffin Beauty Science's video on clean beauty? It's incredibly thorough and brings up some excellent points -- stuff I've been thinking about clean beauty for years.

BLM and other types of activism are easier to navigate (and therefore learn about and act upon long-term) if you remove yourself from the internet a little bit. Sorrynotsorry... too much progressive online discourse is controlled by people with poor social skills and they’re not really qualified to tell me how to interact with people in my real life. I know that’s harsh, but when BLM is at stake, it’s worth being honest even if it’s unpleasant. I hate the weird online codependency of how I’m supposed to get on my knees and beg to be welcomed into activism by people who have already treated me badly. Can women stop doing this to each other in the name of progress? We call out gaslighting and codependency when men impose them on us, but then we do it to each other in our activism, and then we wonder why the most well-adjusted among us opt out. Which is to say.... be easy on yourself as long as you’re trying. Don’t go by what the internet tells you.
