I have installed a CB radio in every vehicle I have ever owned. I will never have a vehicle without a CB in it, even if it's just a little Cobra 19, which is my current setup in my Ram. I had a different Cobra 19 in my 2014 Malibu when a guy had stopped in the roadaround a blind curve and put his car in park, in very heavy fog, at night, and his car was black and because I could not tell that he was stopped since his foot was off the brake with his car in park, I did wind up rear-ending him, and that little CB literally saved my life because I was able to warn Truckers before they got to the Curve one actually did come within a car length and a half of hitting me before he was able to stop, but a CB is extremely useful, and they do need to make a huge comeback along with a lot of common sense

Back in the day we used to play a game on the radio called fishing for truckers, we would get truckers so mad they’d be driving all over Fairfield trying to rabbit hunt us. With a high enough vantage point and variable power we would lead them wherever we wanted. When you’re standing on a heater with a modded d104 you were pegging their meter all over town and the modulation would be off the charts. I got on to my son for trolling people on the internet and realized I did the same crap but on a cb
@209kawirider Жыл бұрын
I'm not a trucker, but I still use cb. Got a nice one n my pickup truck, and older cobra n my jeep, and a portable one to loan to people. We use em for off road trips and stuff where phones don't work. As for use on major highways, I've noticed the use of cb's has declined a LOT over the years. I can drive 100 miles in a busy area and hardly hear anything g while in scan mode. Would be cool to see cb make a comeback.

FM mode with CTCSS (FM mode only function),- is great for homes or properties that want zero noise breaking squelch interrupting the day or night, as typified by mere use of the radios “squelch” or “ASQ”. (automatic squelch) functions. CTCSS is better. Set the desired Code for the (same TX & RX usually) base, and any mobile on the chosen channel wishing contact. Here, the squelch can be off, yet the radio stays dead silent, UNLESS it receives a transmission with the chosen Code when on your chosen channel. Do not however, use CTCSS on any of the AM/FM or SSB Call channels (11, 35LSB 38LSB) or on any road channel (19 etc) OR the emergency channel 09! CTCSS makes for quiet homes where only the radios you program,- can be received on that channel. Other channels behave as normal.
