Seki's not wrong. Akemi has a lot of good qualities, but she doesn't know anything about the real world or how lucky she is to not actually have to live in it. She needs a dose of harsh reality to help her grow up, and he's trying to do right by her.

@@user-v_95 Women in certain eras and areas didn't really have the luxury of being idealists. Like he said, she had very few paths. And she didn't understand or appreciate how lucky she was, nor did she have any gratitude that she wasn't starving in the street or being forced into prostitution. I like Akemi, but her arc in the season is learning how to grow up instead of allowing and expecting everyone else to take care of her and then being made when they do.

@@FiresCollide women still don't have that luxury in most parts of the world, it does not change the fact that it was wrong of Seki to manipulate her life the way HE thought right. Which is why further in the arc, he goes through the character development needed to understand this. I won't deny her privilege and lack of gratitude, but one look at court politics show just how cruel they are to women as well.

Personally I feel that they were both right. She was inexperienced and needed to be humbled and broken of her spoiled attitude as well as she is clever and resourceful and needed a true challenge to find herself. She needed her situation to be put into perspective just like he said. However manipulating her like she was still a child was an error and he needed to be broken of that habit to be able to truly help her. In my mind everything worked as it should have in the story. Perfection in character development. The only flaw was the series not showing whether she was smart or lucky to find that fool flesh trader.

Many things I love about this show. Firstly, they put a lot of development into both Akemi and Taigen, and they became my favorite characters. All the important characters go through a character arc in this show and we get to know them beyond 'bad guy', 'good guy'. Mizu especially, is no white knight as we already see a bit of these last 3 episodes since she treats Ringo with contempt and doesn't help other people. Perhaps the most Saturday morning cartoon villain character is Fowler. Even so, he's very entertaining.

People dont realize a Big Stick (club) can easily beat somebody with a sword . In fact clubs and maces NEVER fell out of fashion while swords have over and over again. Today police and military still use them for further proof .

Ah forgotten history. You know in the USA, dueling wasn't outlawed until the late 1800s technically 1830s, but the south and the west said F the law. I can't remember the year of this show, but it's most likely the beginning of the isolation period Japan had. Either way, I wanna say globally, it was normal for duels to take place.

Haven't heard of Plutio or Zom 100. I may check them out. Echo was alright, it was not as good as I had hoped. Harley Quinn s4 is not as good as the previous seasons, especially 1 & 2. Obviously, it's just my opinion and I am still looking forward to their reactions. I think they need to tackle Scavengers Reign and Reacher.
