A Flip Through of My Favorite Art Journal, Now Complete!

Күн бұрынIn January of 2016 I purchased an old book on paintings, published in 1962. It took me over a year to transform and fill it's pages completely, turning it into my favorite art journal of all time! Many of the projects inside are featured on my KZfaq Channel, most of which can be found in my Mixed Media playlist. I teach how to make a journal exactly like this my Art of Play on-line art course, in the 6th module, "Mixing the Media". I hope to see some of you there! As far as the journal goes, I also hope you find some inspiration in it's pages. It is very dear to me!!!

Holly Molly! Stunning art journal! Other artists repeat same boring face, same colors, almost the same. Your faces, color, and techiques are different. Each one with a story. K u r out of the crowd. Karen, just absolutely gorgeous! If you can find time with three kids and a husband, I know I can find time. That’s been my dilemma, time away from the chaos. Good chaos but still. And I need my own studio space. But you are so encouraging, so real and inspirational!

This is pure awesomeness. Your work is pure awesomeness. I could watch this video over and over... thank you for being you! Karen, I just found you on KZfaq and was immediately drawn to your style. I love everything I’ve seen so far, even your foam heads you call a bit creepy - I love them. I’ve had 2 heads sitting in my garage for years waiting for me to transform them and you’ve just motivated me to go find them. Mixed media is completely new for me and I’m looking forward to exploring it. So glad I found you to be my guide 😊. The girl's @ 3.09 and 4.40, do you paint the background first and then block out the design with black paint? So the background peeks through? Hope that make sense?

Gorgeous !!! What gives your pages the gloss? Spray fixative? I love it. 💜💜💜

H2Cindy yes!! It is acrylic spray varnish. I use a ton of mod podge in my work and the spray keeps it from getting tacky!

H2Cindy it is Matte, actually, and the Mod Podge under it is Matte as well but the result is shiny and yummy. I only use Americana Acrylic Sealer/Finisher. I love it and use it on EVERYTHING!

Beautiful, so should I use Gesso first before the paint, or pastel sticks? I'm loving the glossy finish

I spray each page with acrylic sealer/varnish, yep!
