My band is an 80s rock cover band and we get booked while other bands are trying to get a show once every 6-8 weeks. People including teenagers now actually know the music and it’s awesome to see how our generation of things has totally impacted them. Thank you God

I won't forget, in 2018 my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. I made a lot of mistakes in my short sweet time I had left with my dad. We always bonded over music. His memory was so perfect. He could tell me when and where he wqs and what he was doing when he first heard any music. This among other is one the songs he showed me and opened up to me about. He passed in 2019, he lives with me every day in the music he showed me. I'm so thankful he showed me the songs that made an impression on him.

@@allisvanity...9161 "besides zero political correctness" Well, we could stop right there. However, politics and the destruction of our freedoms aside... Movies from Kubrick, John Hughes, Spielberg, John Carpenter, James Cameron, Oliver Stone, Ridley Scott... Music of many genres from a record industry willing to take risks and invest in artists for the long haul. Early home computing kicked ass. Dungeons & Dragons and the like, i.e. physically getting together with friends and having a ball without spending a lot of money. But probably the most important aspects are the things we didn't have: cell phones and social media. We were free and the stupid little things we did and said as teenagers wouldn't become public and permanent and ruin the rest of our lives.

I believe Paul was 14-15 when he joined AFOS and he was around 16-17 years old when they hit it big with I Ran (So far away) It's really sad he had a break down though and couldn't handle the rock n roll lifestyle + I think he had an alcohol problem. VAL13C man, I just discovered Flock of Seagulls TODAY. I’ve heard I Ran before but never knew who it was by. I manage a business centre in Liverpool and we have a chiropodist who has a space here. A very rambunctious guy and lady came in, and she had come to get her feet done. I got talking to the guy, and he said he played bass in a band, blah blah blah so has every older guy. When I said I was American, he said his band was quite big in the states in the 80s. I had never heard of this “Flock of Seagulls” but told him my drum kit is next door, so we went through and he drummed for a sec, then grabbed the bass across the stage (the centre is a part of our church, so all instruments are there). So we jammed for a couple minutes and went back to the business centre. Had a good chat, and when they left, I started YouTubing and Googling this band to see who he was. When I found this song, it got very real for me. AVA is one of my favourite bands, and to hear this sound in the 80s, which CLEARLY influenced the AVA guys, I found it amazing to have met a guy who was a part of influencing them. ‘Twas a good day today!

I just love Paul Reynolds's "cool as a cucumber" vibe in this video. Playing massively iconic guitar riffs like it's nothing; showing people how it's done without overplaying the part.

Born in 2000, my parents were young in the 80’s, (being born in the 70’s). One of my absolute favourites of all time. Get a bit teary eyed for nostalgias sake, having the guy, losing the guy after he moves south, (that one love, knowing that it won’t match up with the rest) now with someone else who’s as romantic as a concrete slate, baby on the way… life changes but never the tunes ❤ I’d love to see them one day
