You’re such a nice guy to be there for your nan. Family should be everything and I bet your nan used to spoil you. She would be super proud of you stepping up to the mark to say your last goodbyes. Goes to show you can still live your best life in your van and have time for others x

So what you are saying is that we need an emergency plan and an emergency fund. The plan needs to cover accommodation, food, transport, children, pet needs etc in case of an emergency. The fund need so cover all eventualities for 1-3 months. It needs to be in a high interest easy access account and to be used in emergencies only. That would provide comfort and less stress during an emergency or time of need.

Sorry to hear about your nan Everyone needs at least 3 months expenses in an emergency fund no matter what their circumstances are.

Hi Daz, sorry to hear about your nan, it's never easy to deal with things like that, My nightmare as far as van life goes, My husband and I did an long wheel base panel van conversion, which was awesome, went all round the country, loved it, but 2 years in, my husband passed away, Consequently I had no choice but to sell the van, I couldn't drive, I miss him and van life so much, so I guess what I'm trying to say is to be prepared as much as you can be at an time like that, I was not, it came right out of the blue, also for anyone who is thinking about doing van life, I say to those people , go for it, life is to short , we just don't no what's round the corner for any of us, I wish you and your family all the best Daz, stay safe x

First of all condolences! I guess many issues can pop up as a full timer, but the worse I think , which i recently experienced was , returning to my motor home to find a massive big hole through to the bedroom! A vehicle had Obviously Hit it and run! Anyway this led to my van being in the repair shop for 3 weeks ! No home! Had to fork out for a 3 week Holiday! So think about that one guys

Daz, I salute you being there for family in their time of need. Sadly during lockdowns numerous van lifers just selfishly set off for Scotland for instance and no thought for elderly family members who they could of supported. It sickened me. You are quite different in that respect. In Orkney check out the Italian POW chapel. A must see. Thanks for sharing and condolences to you and your family.

Sorry to hear your news. Yes full timers need an emergency back up. What if the camper needs repairs in a garage over night or a number of nights, weeks, (look at Liam and Janine) where would you stay all things people u need to think about have some money for. Also in your case where is your funeral (or court appearance😂) suit in your camper or at your Mum's.. all things to consider

Water Buffalo farm, Yeovil, also has a 5 pitch cl there. Cheese, milk, ice cream, steaks and more in the shop

Christmas markets, we did Koln in 2022, really good there’s about 5 major markets plus other bits and pieces, there is a Stelplatz along the river about a 5 minute Uber ride away, Kara and Nate did a series of KZfaq’s last Christmas, I think they did about nine markets in nine days, worth a watch. As for finding snow, good luck with that, we went to Switzerland for Christmas 2022 to go sledging, no snow😱, I know it’s a chance you take but February would have been better. Good luck with the shows, it was nice to catch you at Harrogate. Ps: Don’t forget Alkmaar for the cheese market when you get to Holland.

What about if your motorhome is to be say in a garage for repair's & it's off the road for a couple of weeks and you can't stay in it paying for hotel? Condolence to you and your family for the loss of your Nan 🙏🏼🤔👍🏼

Sorry for your loss. Maybe a campsite near where you are would let you park it up on site (carpark) but not on a pitch. Maybe for free if electric isn't required.

Sorry to hear about your Nan, sending best wishes to you and your family. In order to register a death you have to have a permanent address, it can get complicated and take a long time especially if there has to be an autopsy. Not my business ( no need to answer ) but do you have life insurance and a funeral plan, it can be very expensive if not. Just something to think about.❤

Hello Darren dear I would like a little bit of advice please. Either from you or your viewers. Don't worry, I won't hold anyone to it legally! I'm 66 next month and will be receiving my state pension. Little bit of savings but not much. Got a few dodgy bits about the body and walk with a stick, but am still standing! Cue Elton John! Anyway, I am determined to buy a campervan ( I like Romahones) and live in it for the foreseeable future! Last year, out of necessity, I did 6 months camping and sleeping in my car, and have done similar regular stints for the last 15 years! Not bad for an old dame like me but the body's a bit shot so even airtents are difficult for me! I would like to know what is the minimum price range a good used van might be selling at. I am not interested in all the bells and whistles, or even microwaves, cookers, etc at this time as I still have a lot of camping stuff. I just want a simple van that is mechanically sound, and one that I can sleep in comfortably, and of course go to the loo when needed! There'll be time enough later to jazz it up and put any personal touches on it. Obviously I will need a decent power pack for when I'm off grid as definitely need me cuppa in the mornings so any advice would be useful. Really don't want to be bothered by over zealous sales people selling pigs in pokes anymore! I might have to bash 'em wiv me stick! Oh and I'm quite interested in the portable solar packs. Sorry to hear about your nan. If you get ill and need to be in hospital for weeks or months where do you put the motorhome. Not so bad if you know but if something sudden happens and you're solo who will you trust to sort your van out?

Question for Darran and anybody reading. I have come across a 2016 Citroen Relay Luton conversion which seems like it would fit my requirements very well with a few mods. Do you think it's about the right money at £24k ?? Mileage is 116k and MOT history looks ok.

You're now encountering why I've never gone into this lifestyle........it would mean a lack of a postal address. I have no family left whose address I could use, this is what has put me off. More power to you but I think you should consider what you would do if you get to that time of life where you start losing family members who you rely on.
