My Great grandmother which I love so much passed on not long ago on 30/4/2024 she was Catholic and she was cremated the same way and she was in so much pain few weeks before her passing 😭😭😭 but I’m so happy for her now that she’s in heaven

I had my younger maternal uncle who is also my boss, cremated in the same way 2 years ago just before the Lunar Chinese New Year. On the day of cremation which is the eve of the Lunar Chinese New Year, I cry because he is the last man from my mother 's family. My maternal grandfather has passed away in 1979 just before I am born. My older maternal uncle has passed away in November 1993 due to a heart attack. My maternal grandmother has passed away in June 2001 while I am serving my NS(National Service). Now with the passing of my younger maternal uncle who has passed away due to the same illness as my elder maternal uncle, only 4 persons from my mother 's family are left- my mother, her 2 elder sisters and her younger sister.

I've worked in a mortuary for 38 years. In the United States we normally allow families their private time at the hospital or place of death. We would normally wait until the next day so that they are not under any pressure to decide on their options and meet with them at the mortuary. Discussing business in the hospital room seems too soon and rushed.

@Michael T, Is the body stored at the Hospital morgue while the family decides what arrangements they want, or is it stored at the Funeral Home? I appreciate your comment about giving the family time immediately after the death to have the opportunity to recover and process (somewhat) the passing of a family member. Thank you for your service to humanity during difficult times. 🌻
