The Gordie Howe International Bridge project is a once-in-a-generation undertaking. Not only will the project deliver much-needed transportation improvements for international travellers, it will also provide jobs and opportunities for growth to the Windsor-Detroit region and includes features that make this project truly distinctive.
The project is being delivered through a public-private partnership (P3). A public-private partnership is a long-term performance- based approach to procuring public infrastructure where the private sector assumes a major share of the risks in terms of financing and construction and ensuring effective performance of the infrastructure, from design and planning, to long-term maintenance.

The only other bridge going over this river, charges $45 for each truck. After 50 years of Geographic Monopoly, they are suing the new bridge makers.

They should have built this bridge 20 years ago. By not having to kowtow to the late Manuel Moroun, Detroit's economy would have evolved into a major trans-shipment point of goods between the USA and Canada.

@@qjtvaddictGood luck. It already is 25% of all trade between Canada and the US came over the old bridge alone. 962 billion. They estimate with the new bridge that may go up to 1.5 trillion.

Good content. I hope I will be able to walk or ride my bike on it soon. I recommend playing at 1.25 speed because, as is, the delivery of the commentary is too slow.

Seriously, At 3:20 "a clear span or 2.5km or half a mile"?!?!? OMG do Americans really have no education or conscience awareness at all when it comes to the metric system? (For those who don't get the issue there, half a mile is actually 805m ie 0.8km, 2.5km is 1.55 miles).

When it opens to the public at the end of 2025 possibly 2026. Also, 8 lanes of tolls for both cars and trucks in one direction is not even close to enough.

China could build this in a year. They have built many huge bridges in half the time. The new SF Bridge section cost 10 billion and took years and they didn’t even put a bike lane all the way across. You have to turn around at the island. American bridge projects are boondoggles

Hey Gordie Howe Bridge and Bridging North America, you should address the misleading and incorrect information at 3:21. According to you main span is 2.5 Kilometers or "half a mile" across. Idk where your billion dollar engineers learned to do math but I sure hope this logic isn't used to calculate all the differences between the metric and imperial system on this new bridge...

@@thomaskirk9546: Had the Ambassador Bridge Company been allowed to build another bridge beside the Ambassador Bridge, part of the agreement was to remove the existing bridge.
