This little book is amazing. I also wish I had read it when I was young, before college. Along with this book, in the development of an intellectual life, I recommend Jean Guitton - The Intellectual Work; Louis Riboulet - Councils about the Intellectual Work; Jules Payot - The Education of Will; and also The Intellectual Work and The Will; and the book that comes before all these, by Alphonse Gratry - Councils to the Education of the Spirit. Life changing book indeed. I was curious to note that the author gives advice on what seems like a proto “Zettelkasten” method of note taking decades before Nicholas Lumen creates it and even more decades before it becomes popularized on KZfaq self help content creators further popularize it.
