Because outside of anime settings, guns and swords serve distinct utilities that don't match up well. Bayonets add spear-like functionality to long rifles and the predecessor to that was an axe-head close to the muzzle, but additional weight on an already somewhat heavy weapon and risk of functionality loss upon physical impact damage makes it difficult to mix the two. Which is not to say I don't like the aesthetic of firearms boasting bladed attachments for close-quarters use. They look cool and make for interesting ideas when fighting stylishly instead of practically. It just really is too bad that in general, efficiency is rarely artistic.

Because of improper storyboards, and more likely, to allow adhd addled, zoomer viewers to understand how his weapon works against the demons when seemingly nothing else does, since a proper time to exposit the make of his bullets would be during a conversation with new world Jeanne, 1 or 2 epsidoes later, and most zoomers don't have the attention span to pay attention to details like that over the span of a few episodes unless they are binging a series
