A good day at the sawmill!

I took a little break from making firewood to get a good sized lumber order milled up. I didn’t quite get it finished, tomorrow is another day. I can honestly say it’s one of the best seasons of my professional life. I truly enjoy what I do!

Hey Jeff, i built a linn lumber sawmill I made mine portable with log loaders so i could do the Travlang show it's a lot of work and a lot of prep. The one benefit is I don't have the logs in my yard. O your right about time management you start early and end late there are even times when as you're ready to pack up and leave the owner brings out the chain saw and cuts down another tree just because he has you there.

Does your mill shed provide enough “indoor” cover to help keep the black flies at bay? They are starting come out now and will start to impact outdoor activities.

1 1/4 x6 inch white oak. Oil or wood stain all sides and ends. Put tarpaper on rustproof painted metal frame between wood and metal.

Hey Noel- I’d use poplar if you can get some. It’s easy to use and dries hard as a bullet!

@@thelogfather5002we use black poplar for trailer decks I believe my brothers out east call it water poplar. Lasts and takes a lot of abuse from rig equipment.
