The flag of Greece contains nine equal, horizontal and alternating white and blue parallel stripes. The blue and white color symbolize the colors of the Greek sky and sea. The nine stripes correspond to the syllables of the historical phrase "Freedom or Death", "Ελευθερία ή Θάνατος" as well as to the letters of the word "Ελευθερία" "Freedom" The Cross symbolizes our religion and the 4 points of the horizon. The official flag of the state has another detail, which is found only in public service buildings and in the army. The pole is white and has a white sphere with a cross on its head this is the meaning and symbolism of the Greek flag very good presentation for all the places you have visited, I would say objective, thank you very much my friend

The thing I like about Gabriel is, is his videos are so easy to watch. He takes on the journey with him, it's never, Oh look at me, it's always about the city/town/forest/island he is visiting. This island looks a great little spot to get away from it all.

@@johncopeland3826 You have been talking about the islands, which includes their nature, but not the sea around them. Looking at an entire island it‘s a dry rock. Τῆλος -Tilos ,Mythological named from the son of Alias ,sister of Helios (sun). During the 7th century BC ,Tilos and Rodos(Rhodes) founded the colony of Gelas in Sicily. The monument on 7:35 is a monument to the fallen of Greek revolution against Ottoman empire. The whole island is a huge ecological park and is protected by international conditions. An island with rugged, mountainous but verdant volumes, with hills and valleys where four hundred species of flowers and herbs grow, live many species of rare birds (eagles, hawks, nightingales, goldfinches, herons, bee-eaters, etc.)

That's the same hotel I stayed in when I toured the Dodecanese in 2019. It was even better value then - 160 euros for the week, including breakfast. I liked Tilos a lot - the clear water, the warm breezes, the relaxed pace. There's a bus leaves the little town square in Livadia every morning for Megali Chora and the northern end of the island. I took it several times to get to Eristos Beach - it's a big picturesque bay, and I had it nearly all to myself every time I went. Like you, Greece is my favorite place. I've been traveling Europe over the summer for the last decade (though not 2020 or 21), currently in the Canary Islands, but will be back in Greece next month. Can't wait.

Speaking of prices. 12:50 As Austrians, we vacationed in Croatia in the 1990s, during the Balkan War. On the island of Cres in the village of Valun. At that time still an absolute insider tip, today a tourist hotspot. At that time, I gave the waiter 60 Austrian schillings as a tip (4.40€) The waiter then closed the restaurant, and he spent the rest of the day with us tourists. Those were the days in the 1990s...

The name of the island with the mining operation off the coast of Nisyros is Yali. They mine pumice. In a comment on a previous video, I mentioned that I'd stayed at a workers' hostel when visiting Nysiros in 1972. The hostel where I stayed provided rooms for the workers who went to work in Yali in the morning, returning to Nisyros at the end of the day.

Hi Gabriel, what an amazing location this Tilos is so far, I find it more interesting than Nisyros. The volcano on Nisyros is the main attraction Tilos seems larger with more of a mountain area. I'm sure you'll find out more about what the Island has to offer in terms of sites but with many of the Islands, it can't be that much different in terms of things to do and see there, all the islands are beautiful in their own way. Of course, some offer more for tourists, and some are more secluded, it's just a question of where you want to go to.
