This video targets rafters in 4-6 person rafts in class II whitewater without a guide.
Topics include: preparing for cold water, properly fitting a lifejacket, swimming defensively, swimming aggressively, pulling a paddler back into the raft, and identifying and avoiding hazards such as rocks, strainers, foot entrapments and dangerous hydraulics.
This video was produced by the American Canoe Association under a grant from the Aquatic Resources (Wallop-Breaux) trust Fund administered by the U.S. Coast Guard.

I would, as former river guide, highly recommend this video for a good starting point. One point to add about anybody hanging onto a boat for any time, is to make sure they are on the up river side of the boat. This prevents them being smashed between the boat and any obstacles. Should also emphasize not pulling people into the boat by their arms to prevent injury. Its a good idea to do a commercial trip or trips first and pump the guides for advice. Be careful and have fun!
