Күн бұрынSo you've gotten feedback on your writing...now what do you do? Implementing feedback can feel very daunting, especially if you aren't used to getting critique on your work. Maybe the critique has you feeling a little hurt or low in confidence, maybe you have no idea where do begin with all this feedback, or maybe you're nervous to get feedback in the first place. Luckily, getting feedback is something that gets easier with practice and time, but here are a few tips to make the process easier!

Get feedback from different people and look for issues more than one person raises.

I was very defensive and felt underappreciated for all I put into my writing when receiving feedback. After returning to those critiques, months later, I realize how accurate they really were. Conclusion; before blame and defensiveness kick in, we should prepare ourselves for what we asked for. Never expect a 'love letter' from a Beta Reader or Critique Partner.

What do you do if you don't have a critique partner? No friends or family interested in what you do? You sit with your manuscript, editing it all by yourself.

There are people online who will read your manuscript for five dollars or even for free

I use Critique Partner. Admittedly, the results have been mixed (I have encountered one or two nutters on there) but overall it beats trying to do it my own.

@@rad4924 100% agree! Most of the CC critiques are very helpful, a few are just plain weird. It's great for short stories and opening chapters. It's not ideal for a full novel, though.
