Two weeks later... woke early, before the dawn with the immediate thought of being so tired of the pain and suffering of this world. I came back to this meditation and see i have to sit with this, let it be and try not to "want" to get out of it. But i do "want" to. And its not my personal suffering alone but that which is the suffering that seems to chain this whole world. One has to be so brave to be honest about this and keep digging for the Truth.

Within life is the potential for suffering, Here is the causes of suffering both general and unique, Here is the cessation of the general and unique causes, Here is the path of active cessation which leads to the uprooting of suffering wholly. This is the most sensible teaching. What is stress is not myself. This is where all modern traditions get its root. The rest... is... metaphysical fluff. Who can come to realise the practicality of the four noble truths if they do not suffer? These are the four noble facts.

I'm realising more and more each day why the Buddha presented Dukkha as the first teaching. That existential dread is lifted by the light of awareness of the deathless state of the Buddha. Trusting the path works, that we must meet each moment with awareness, not blindly trusting the mind, opinions, but opening to what is. Bravery indeed however after dying countless deaths through fear with no release, maybe we do this as a preparation for the surrender? I'm realising that when we let go, surrender to what is, regardless of fear, wanting, not wanting, something is there to support, like the earth is there to support the body. Thank you Jayasara blessings 🙏🙏🙏

Thank you, Sister, for sharing this guided meditation on the Four Noble Truths. Suffering, as a noble truth, is this: Birth is suffering, aging is suffering, sickness is suffering, death is suffering, sorrow and lamentation, pain, grief and despair are suffering; association with the loathed is suffering, dissociation from the loved is suffering, not to get what one wants is suffering - in short, suffering is the five categories of clinging objects. "The origin of suffering, as a noble truth, is this: It is the craving that produces renewal of being accompanied by enjoyment and lust, and enjoying this and that; in other words, craving for sensual desires, craving for being, craving for non-being. "Cessation of suffering, as a noble truth, is this: It is remainderless fading and ceasing, giving up, relinquishing, letting go and rejecting, of that same craving. "The way leading to cessation of suffering, as a noble truth, is this: It is simply the noble eightfold path, that is to say, right view, right intention; right speech, right action, right livelihood; right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration. "'Suffering, as a noble truth, is this.' Such was the vision, the knowledge, the understanding, the finding, the light, that arose in regard to ideas not heard by me before. 'This suffering, as a noble truth, can be diagnosed.' Such was the vision, the knowledge, the understanding, the finding, the light, that arose in regard to ideas not heard by me before. 'This suffering, as a noble truth, has been diagnosed.' Such was the vision, the knowledge, the understanding, the finding, the light, that arose in regard to ideas not heard by me before. "'The origin of suffering, as a noble truth, is this.' Such was the vision... 'This origin of suffering, as a noble truth, can be abandoned.' Such was the vision... 'This origin of suffering, as a noble truth, has been abandoned.' Such was the vision... in regard to ideas not heard by me before. "'Cessation of suffering, as a noble truth, is this.' Such was the vision... 'This cessation of suffering, as a noble truth, can be verified.' Such was the vision... 'This cessation of suffering, as a noble truth, has been verified.' Such was the vision... in regard to ideas not heard by me before. "'The way leading to cessation of suffering, as a noble truth, is this.' Such was the vision... 'This way leading to cessation of suffering, as a noble truth, can be developed.' Such was the vision... 'This way leading to the cessation of suffering, as a noble truth, has been developed.' Such was the vision... in regard to ideas not heard by me before. SN 56.11

Brilliant. I see all my clinging and grasping causes all my depression. Everytime I knock it down though by realizing it's dukkha it liberates me but within seconds it comes straight back. I'm hoping if I keep practicing and also join the local Buddhist temple I can work on permanently releasing it.

Yes, keep practicing this and have faith (i.e. confidence) in the buddha and in your own inner ability/awareness, that it will work. It will also help to keep cultivating wholesome mind states as much as possible and turning your attention to the wholesomeness in you that is already there. You can also practice the Brahmaviharas.

The world is heading for an ecological disaster in 10 years which will lead to the suffering of billions of human beings- death, starvation, loss, war as competition for scarce resources ensues. Not to mention the sufferings of thousands of species of animals I don’t think Gautama considered these facets of human existence when he compiled the 8 fold path
@SamaneriJayasara
@SamaneriJayasara 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, the Buddha clearly saw this coming. How could he not? - He was omniscient. Here is the sutta and a couple of other references to that teaching: suttacentral.net/an7.66/en/sujato?layout=plain&reference=none&notes=asterisk&highlight=false&script=latin lokanta.github.io/2019/03/11/end-is-nigh/ Many seers, sages and spiritual traditions had insight into the inevitable destruction of the world. It constitutes the immutable reality of impermanence and change. However, the eightfold noble path is also a timeless one, and one that can help people navigate skillfully and mindfully through these times of intense change and chaos, and to free themselves from this endless cycle of samsara. Here is another brief overview of that: www.nytimes.com/1999/04/03/arts/apocalyptic-meditations-every-faith-has-a-view.html
@HalfDumb
@HalfDumb 2 жыл бұрын
We got to this ecological disaster precisely because the 8 fold path is not applied and embodied and four noble truths are ignored, denied, or trivialized. We are here because we failed to look at our reality deeply with clear sight.
