Hey All! This one was a bit different than I expected from them, this was a beautiful song all around. The melody in the verse that he's singing can burrow its way into your head.

This has always been one of my favorite a-ha songs, if not my favorite. I love the sound, the lyrics and his voice is simply beautiful. I still have the cassette from the 80's! Haha. Love the 80's and a-ha is certainly one of those bands that are timeless. Love their music. I hope I can see them perform live in concert when they start their tour next year. It will be awesome to see them. Glad you are enjoying their music. Can you do a reaction to "Living A Boy's Adventure Tales" and their James Bond song "The Living Daylights" ? You would love that one! Thanks

I'm a big a-ha fan since they started but this wasn't live. But Morten Harket is a very good singer with a broad reach in his voice. Live he is very good and he doesn't use autotune. There is an acoustic version of Take on me from about a year ago. You can easily find it through google here on KZfaq. And it's like you say: you know it's him because Morten has a very distinctive own sound.

The unusual things a-ha does in the songs are Pål's way of giving something extra to the listener. He's never satisfied until he finds the little things that make the song stand out, and it works. It hasn't been long since I've been pestering you, but I'll try again, since I'm already writing here. Next: Rolling Thunder, please.

Yes this was lip-synced, this is the studio version of the song (and my favorite, though the video version has some nice orchestra sounds added). This one always brings me peace, it’s so soothing but really builds at the end and hits hard. I’m also an 80’s child who mostly listens to hard rock and metal, but there’s something about a-ha that keeps me glued. I think it’s the emotion and passion they put into everything, and the way they create atmospheres so easily.

A very good quality live version of "Hunting High and Low" I would recommend is this one from 2001: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jqqmdqVhvbaZg2g.html one of my favorite songs as well, however my no 1 would have to be "I've been losing you". Beside 'Stay on these roads' I think you might enjoy Sycamore Leaves, Swing of Things, Train of Thought, Early Morning (reminds me of The Doors), East of the Sun, West of the Moon (I recommend the beautiful live version from NRK Studios in 1991). Always nice to see people who enjoy good music!

1. Re: what Yeedeed identified in this song - those jazzy/Latinate chord-changes which drive the verse - that is where this song gets most of its power - my usual saying is that the verse-melody sounds like it might have been fished out of a waste-paper basket belonging to either Burt Bacharach or Antonio Carlos Jobim, resemblances underlined by amount of odd-numbered phrases in the song. 2. Vocally I think of Morten as being in a category with Paul Buchanan and Roland Orzabal - and if they were more securely in-tune, Robert Smith and Chris `Elysium' Mitchell would fit in there too 3. Talking of '80s classics with suave chords and phrasing, I wonder if Yeedeed is familiar with this particular jewel: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/prRogsRqzpOrd4E.html (live version: lo-fi audio but better bass work)

aha mtv unplugged versions are beautiful especially take on me. you should check out H.I.M. love metal band from finland i think you would like their music you don’t have to react to them though also you should check out Selena Quintanilla Perez, Selena y los dinos - como la flor her music is in spanish but is beautifully performed plus she was murdered in 1995 shot to death by her fanclub president because Selena found out she was stealing all the money 70,000 dollars from her fanclub and clothing lines. she was about to cross over into the english language market when she was killed. check out her astrodome concert in houston, usa a few weeks before her murder. Selena was only 23 years old when she died. you don’t have to react to them on your channel but i’d love to know what you think of them. see you on the next one, bye 👍🏻❤️🎼🎤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hi Alison! Thanks for commenting and nice suggestion!!! I haven't heard H.I.M. in a long long time. I actually saw them live at Download Festival in Donnington way back in the day, around 2005. If you have any songs in mind (I have heard Right Here in My Arms and Wings of a Butterfly), would be happy to do a reaction to them. I remember Selena when I was a kid. My mom and sister listened to Selena all the time prior to her murder. It's really sad, you're right she was already pretty big at the time but was destined for greatness.
