I was a Protestant for 24 years and became an Orthodox Christian last year. One of the things that drew me to a new way of thinking was the church fathers about the Eucharist.

When I was a catechumen, I attended a non-denom 'church' during a 'communion' service. A friend was the music pastor there. The senior pastor said during the service (and I quote, because I cannot forget this): "And Jesus said, 'this represents my body, which was given for you. Do this in memory of me." "He took the cup, and said, 'this represents my blood, shed for the life of the world.' I nearly got up and left, but I didn't want to insult my friend... I couldn't run faster back to the Orthodox parish and my spiritual Father.

It’s really sad that they don’t know the Truth. I was a Protestant for many years but during a time of great duress the Lord revealed the Truth to me about the Eucharist AND the Blessed Mother! I ran to the nearest Catholic Church, but now that we have an apostate Pope I find more shelter and truth with my Orthodox brothers. In the end, denomination will evaporate, our differences won’t matter. Viva Christo Rey❣️✝️

It doesn't. But saying "brilliant theologian, brilliant sermon..." does. All we should say is, "that was helpful to me; thank you", if it was helpful to us. And the Orthodox person to whom we say that, should think, "Lord, thanks be to Thee! Glory to Thee for not letting me come in between Thee & this child of Thine, my brother/sister. May it be so always." If a sermon... is not helpful to u, u don't have to say anything.

Hi Lazarus, it is only possible to download KZfaq videos for offline use with a KZfaq Premium account. However, it looks like you cannot download videos that are for KZfaq channel members, unfortunately. The download button seems to be missing. There are third party websites that will allow you to do this if you search them up, but that is up to your discretion.

There's Firefox browser add-ons to rip KZfaq videos, may have to alter the privacy / firewall settings of the browser so the download button displays on the page below the video box... Been a while since I done this so could possibly be redundant now

Ive been attending a orthodox church for a few months now and im thinking of joining but I cant help but disagree with him on evangelism. I understand what he is saying when its about growing there own church and empire. In my opinion I just got to disagree. Lord commands us to go out and make disciples of all nations. Paul says the feet of those who preach the gospel are blessed. How then are they to call on Him in whom they have not believed? How are they to believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? In saying this I found the Lord but thats by searching and finding videos like this and then going to my first Divine Liturgy.

Who ever said NOT to preach the Gospel! God forbid. Is it possible that you misunderstood him? (If we understand you right, you are referring to Fr. Peter?) Perhaps he said HOW to do it -- not NOT to do it? This is a book he translated and UMP published -- all about the mission of the Church in the heart of Africa: uncutmountainpress.com/shop/product/apostle-to-zaire/

Mt. 13:13 "Therefore speak I to them in parables..." Jesus uses analogy and metaphor too. ; ) Pax.

When Jesus speaks in parables, its always clear. None of them thought it was a hard saying when He said he was the door. The way His audience reacts to what is said in the video, clearly indicates He was not speaking in a parable. Not only that, but he continues to re-state it as they question Him.

He says there are some of them that believe not, indicating it is a matter of unbelief and lack of faith, not of misunderstanding or taking something metaphorical, as literal. Then we have the instance of the last supper, as well as Paul's mentioning of the Eucharist (1 cor 10:16-17 and 1 cor 11:28-29) along with the writings regarding it by early church fathers who were themselves disciples of disciples, so, clearly, it was intended to be literal@@dravenocklost4253

Christ is making an ontological statement. There is no separation between the metaphysical and the physical. Does it offend you that there is no ontological distinction between God's essence and energies - that participation in God's energies is real, essential union with Him? The same exact reality is proclaimed by Christ in what he says regarding the Eucharist.

Perhaps it is some distorted notion of piety, to deny the Incarnation and possibility of a man who is not fallen but rather divine in nature... It is a scandal and a crisis at once, God taking on a human nature, whilst being fully divine... This is the philosophical problematic at the core of many heresies, "absolute divine simplicity" doctrine. Union with God somehow entails pollution of God or something, people are adamantly viewed as irredeemable creatures... At least it is true regarding our nature, our sins are small crucifixions of Christ, we sin because we are fallen and freewilled. But the Incarnation is the redemption, the bringing of redemption for faithful mankind, Christ in a paradoxical way allows fallen man to partake in that which is divine, to have the very likeness of God. This is basically taboo in most so called religions, usually the unification or deification thing is impersonal, a created or carnal (even if metaphysical) substrata of some mysterious kingdom, a mere analogy at best, not the direct experience. You should see what these folks say about illumination, the intense form of theosis, they basically say it's self-idolatry, you believe you can acquire literal Godhood, to merge with God, etc... Well, participation in essence is a paradox, made possible by Christ, if one rejects the person of Christ as God then God Himself will not grant that person direct experience of Him to know Him properly/really, if that person's ethos is trash like ancient barbarian pagans then He may even send delusion instead of licensing participation in Him... So they think it's all based on piety and respect for God, but they did not receive Him, they did not have the virtue to see the virtues in Christ's Incarnation and plan, to then accept Him the greatest blessing of all... But if we return to the prophetic scheme of the old covenants we can see Christ's Incarnation is consistent with all that prior plan of God, and it was really not a contradiction of His own Will and Order that He came to earth as a God-man.

@@Aaron-xb4rq when you take the eucharist in your church what actually you take ? Do you take the essence of God ?
@Aaron-xb4rq
@Aaron-xb4rq 4 ай бұрын
@@user-pj7sq7ce1fChrist is everything. God is one in essence and indivisible. God's essence manifests as all that is. Therefore, the Eucharist is God's essence manifest as bread and wine. Is bread and wine ontologically separate from Christ? No. Is the prosfora I made Christ? Yes. Is the wheat I grew and the water I drew from the ground Christ? Yes. Like Christ transfigured on the mountain, the bread and the water (and the wine) don't become something they weren't already. They are simply revealed in all their glory for what they always already are. There is no separation.
