Hello everyone, Awkward's editor here. I would appreciate any constructive criticism on the video. Please let me know how I did and if there's anything better I could have done!

I would like to give props to Artif3x for being very respectful throughout our journey together, even though he had a strong disagreement with my message initially.

What I noticed when I started implementing these changes: at first, you will do WORSE before getting better. This is because you are hard focusing on these concepts, splitting your attention. Once they get more natural, then you will see big improvements and ranks. Don’t let the initial drop scare you away from implementing Awkward’s advice. I play on PS5 and feel my aim holds me back. Even so, I die significantly less than ever before, do more damage, and find myself in much better positioning. And that is on both Ana and Zen, my two mains.

Man improved so much over a few weeks. This guy was basically a bot at the beginning of the video and I was actually impressed with some of his plays at the end. Damage Damage Damage took me from Plat (season 36) to Diamond (Season 1), to just hitting GM a couple days ago on Zen. Keep spreading the good word!

You have single-handedly made it to where I can't play COMP with any of my friends when I'm support, you've forced me to distance myself from their ranks!

Being willing to admit when you're wrong is not only one of the most underrated attributes in this or any game, but in life in general. Always be humble and willing to admit being wrong, that is how you grow and adapt

Awkward is hands-down the best OW2 educator out there. I went from hard stuck bronze 5 to Gold 1 on Soldier after I started applying your mindset. Love your humility and the way you push players to look inward for the things that are holding them back. What a class act. Wish you nothing but success, my man!

Honestly my best takeaway from awkward is having the right attitude. I was playing a great game as zen with a ton of damage for my team, but my tank was smack talking me for “lack of healing”. Normally I’d get tilted by that, but I kept to my play style and by the end the rest of the team was praising me. Win or lose, this attitude change has simply allowed me to enjoy the game again.

Your Ana video single-handedly improved my Ana gameplay beyond anything else I had tried! I mostly just play QuickPlay after work, but even then I can tell how much of a difference it has made. She's also way more fun now!

Awkward gives the best advice because he keeps it simple and focuses on the fundamentals. Not to throw shade but other unranked to gm KZfaqrs, talk so much and overcomplicate things with word salads explaining super nuanced and detailed breakdowns of each fight, it is quickly overwhelming for new or low rank players. Awkward gets rid of that mental clutter and just keeps you focused on what matters most. You can always work on micro gameplay when you get higher rank.

You are the best player/teacher. Everyone who says something else denys the reality. I bet u helped thousands of people to improve. Not only their gameplay also their mentality. People who watch awkward are self accountable, dont blame others and climb.

I am Ana main. After implementing your advice I climbed from Plat to Master in ~ 100 games (I've never been in Master before). Looking forward to more educational overwatch videos :)

Big shout out to this guy for swallowing his ego and pride and willing to listen and learn. Also big shout out to Awkward for taking the time to teach him. I've only started watching Awkward's content just recently but after watching his Kiriko educational vids I have gone from mid silver to mid gold. Its still a work in progress and I still have some skills to polish but I do feel more confident then how I usually played.

you honestly helped me with your unranked to GM video. i felt really unsure of myself when i was playing ana before, but now it comes much more naturally to me since i have more direction and coaching from that video. i know where to stand. i know what to do. i’ve been maintaining diamond again instead of yoyoing between high gold and low plat.

Definitely agree with the big at the end about mentality. The answer and path forward can be right in front of anybody but they have to be willing to accept it and choose to change first. Great video!

Please more videos in this format. Very insightful and overall just a great video. Great editing by Zeeno as well. Showing the positions that the player could have been using was awesome.

More videos like this. The unranked to GM video's are good too but the issue is we don't see the mistakes as often since you play like a GM already. The 1 on 1 coaching stuff is great!

I saw this thread on Reddit and I remember replying and disagreeing with OP. There's a lot of factors that involve Awkward's way of teaching, and the fact is Just by WATCHING and LISTENING him play through his unranked to GM's on YT, as long as you drop your ego you will learn A LOT. The fact that Awkward put these informational stuff for free in KZfaq is actually huge, but people always makes excuses why they cant climb. "Oh he just has good mechanics", "Oh he's just way better than me, there's no way i can play like that". No, these are excuses. As a fighting game player myself (I play at high level Tekken and played and won local tournaments in the past) we have to constantly adapt and be aware of what we're doing wrong. Adaptiveness and awareness are most of the key ways to climb in OW. As you can see in this coaching here, it's just a matter of being aware of yourself and what you're doing. Just that by itself will have a huge impact, and mechanics will come with time. TLDR is just to listen and learn with what Awkward is saying at his unranked to GMs on YT as well as be aware of these things as you play the game. Never autopilot, and you'll climb.

This was so wholesome to watch, and its really interesting how small changes can make a big difference.

I was a bit meeeh about all your teaching videos at first but when I just stop thinking about How it should be and started listening to what you say and do it, I have started helping out to win alot of teamfights and also started climbing! (Brig main btw) 💪🏻

I’d say it can vary a little based on situation as well. If your dps and tank are in control you can focus more on support. If it’s more of a stalemate you need to be a bigger threat.

as a gm1 support player seeing how artifix played really brought me back to how i started improving by realizing mistakes i was making when i was in plat/diamond and working on positioning and not being a healbot. great video

100% agree with changing your attitude being the best thing you can do. I'm mostly a tank player in OW 1 I was silver to mid gold. In OW2 I really wanted to improve my tank gameplay and it started with me finding a A10 unranked to GM on orisa. What really helped us was that he spent the entire first 30 mins of the video going through a slide show of tank fundamentals as well as game theory with an overlay of the map. I still constantly practice these fundamentals and rewatch my Vods seeing why I died when I did. I stopped blaming my team and instead focused on what I can do better. I have currently climbed out of gold to Diamond 2 and I'm working on pushing to masters hopefully I'll make it there within a few weeks and I hope I can comment a few months later about hitting low GM. But that's going to be way tougher 😂

I’m new to the game found you and placed gold (kiriko only), I guess I skipped most of the HEAL HEAL HEAL mentality that seems to plague most supports. It’s not like I’m good at aiming but my presence cannot be understated.

Upon reading Artif3x's reddit posts (both the initial and follow up) i must say he handled everything with grace and eloquence. I understand clickbaiting but it feels wrong to use the word hater in the title. He put in tremendous effort to be data driven and objective about his results and its clear there was no ego or hating in his conduct but rather a genuine earnest attempt (in his mind) to stop propogating what he thought at the time to be a detrimental playstyle for less mechanically inclined players. Props to the guy for taking up the coaching offer, having his viewpoint changed and providing valuable insights to us along the way.

Awkward really is a goated OW coach , I was averaging high plat/diamond for most of my time playing OW ... Now after watching his videos, I reached GM for the first time as zen about 2-3 weeks ago ... Bro is very wise and it was cool to see him coaching directly over someones shoulder , thanks Awkward for being an actual coach and teaching not only mechanics, but teaching the mindset thats needed as well

A really simple way to think of rotations is as follow. When they are shooting at your team, dmg, heal, use cooldowns. When they start to shoot at you instead of at your team, rotate. Don't rotate just because you feel you have been in a position too long if they are just attacking your team anyway(this is assuming your position still has value).

Question regarding having a "snipe-out" with an enemy Widow: You said at 15:55 that the jump was a bad idea against the widow. I noticed that very few people use couch in an active manner, but would it be useful to peek and immediately crouch, potentially barely dodging the headshot? (considering that crouching in that moment would be unexpected playstyle)

Don't know what they're talking about!! I was stuck in gold support for a long time but after watching your video on Ana I was starting to climb up the ranks really fast. In 2 weeks I went from gold 3 to plat 1 and I'm confident I'm about to hit diamond. My aim is pretty good for Ana but I lacked awareness and your videos helped me out a lot.

I believe I played against Artif3x a few weeks ago in a plat game. His Ana was the first time I played against a support that was carrying fights that well and also holding good positioning (granted it’s our ELO). These haters and doubters needa take Awkward’s advice 💯💯💯 I myself have ranked up my DPS role from silver 5 to plat 5 in only a few hrs of gameplay. Like he says, implement the basics, set the foundation and master those steps before you start mastering all the other “what ifs”, flicks, etc…
