You didn't mention how Violet literally and figuratively steps out of the dark and into the light following the ghostwriting for Spencer. Again, you managed to see an aspect of this show that's right there in front of us, but most don't see it. Well done.

Hell yeah, not only do I get a RP video but I get the confirmation on a Hyouka one coming up next? SICK Some stuff I wanted to point out with the theme of hands. Firstly, she opens the door into the office, she uses her hands (duh). Symbolising her opening her heart up to the possibility that she has indeed been making differences in people's lives, accepting what the President said about the Major's death, and lastly that she has the opportunity to continue being an Auto Memoir Doll. Just that one act was a showing of the accumulation of Violet's resolve to finally break past her fears and thus continue writing letters. Secondly, the fact she uses those hands of hers to carry around that briefcase and to type, is very endearing to me. Thats right! The same hands that she lost while trying to protect something important is now replaced with hands that help others protect what is important to them. I also found it especially interesting how the violin BGM did not stop after Violet woke up from the nightmare. Usually, animes will choose to stop the music there to show an abrupt and rough ending like how most dreams are. But in this case, it continued playing, showing how Violet feels. That she is in a living nightmare.

Man, I love how attentive you were with all the symbolism in this episode. It's such a powerful episode, and might be my favorite.

I think Hodgkins also teared up when violet asked: “If it’s okay for me to live on?” Because he also wondered the same since he also fought in the war. Earlier when Catelyea got mad at him for saying violet is burning, he said that “we’re all burning”, meaning he’s also scarred from the war.

Haha, so true. My mother was surprised there even was a further episode. She thought this was the last one. (Which unless you knew the episode count, it would come across as.) And it remains her favorite.

I still think that the backstory should have been earlier in the story not her knowing about his death but the audience should at least know the complete ins and outs of their relationship. I just feel the show would have been better paced if it was more linear and took out an episode or so.
