I have an African American friend who has Berber in his DNA. We couldn't figure out why. Those Haratin people are beautiful people. I will do my own research on them. I can hear the pain in your voice! Keep pushing us Brother to continue seeking! One love💜

The original berber are black. The ones you see today are mixed with greek, roman and vandal blood. They have been faking like they are the original berber in order to falsify the history of north africa to make it seems as if tbey have been tbere for thousands of years but saharan paintings prove otherwise. The haratin are an original berber population thats why they make the claim that they have always been in the places they can be found. The mixed 'socalled berbers have falsified the bistory. It is true that other black etbnic groups were made slaves but they should not be confused with tbe original 'haratin/ berber who are tbe original inhabitants of north africa.

My cousin lived in yemen hadramaut, and sanaa there isnt any slavery in rhe country. Most are accepting of Somalis, ethiopians and eritreans refugees. Of course u have some bigots but overall they are accepting since they share a similar culture. Hypothetically there are ethiopians slaves in the country that means the axum kingdom traded the slaves. Axum kingdom was notorious for selling slaves to arabs and persians. The first time I heard about the "blackamoors" (that's how it was translated into English then) was when I came upon one of the oldest (if not the oldest) English translation of what we now know as Arabian nights (or 1001 nights) in it's unabridged uncensored version back in 1997. It really helps understand the dynamic between these enslaved black people and those who exploited them, feared them, despised them, mutilated them and killed them. It makes you think twice about work which is presented to the wider audience as being children entertainment after having been modified to fit the demands of a capitalist machine dedicated to the financial exploitation of children. These are folk tales bearing witness to patterns of social behaviors and beliefs from another era, not fairy tales as we've been led to believe. Best way ever to keep our history hidden...

I am fortunate to have found this episode and I thank you so much. I am in the process of organizing a book and my information on the Haratin was limited. From what I have read the haratin, as a distinct group bearing that name (in the form of the Amazigh: ahardin and ihardin) pre-dates the arrival of Islam and is not derived from any Arabic word. I am making a point of including a prominent section that highlights the ongoing caste system.
