Since October 7th, the term Zionism has been everywhere in the news. It's been used to support Israel in what it calls its war against Hamas: a refrain to remind everyone why Israel exists and why it must be protected. Others have used Zionism to describe what they view as Israel's collective punishment of civilians in Gaza, and its appropriation of Palestinian territories - what they often call "settler colonialism."Zionism has been defined and redefined again and again, and the definitions are often built on competing historical interpretations. So unsurprisingly, we've received many requests from you, our audience, to explore the origins of Zionism. On today's episode, we go back to the late 19th century to meet the people who organized the modern Zionist movement.
Correction: An earlier version of this episode incorrectly described Ze'ev Jabotinsky as a right-wing settler who helped form the paramilitary organization the Irgun. Jabotinsky was a conservative Zionist thinker whose ideas influenced some of the founders of the Irgun. While Jabotinsky did advocate Jewish settlement in Palestine, he himself lived mostly in Europe and died before Israel's founding.

The PalestineArab people of the first century of the common era ( 100-ACE) 100(AD) , were NOT an ethnic nation. PalestineArabs were the vanguard of Arab empire colonial settlers over Zion Judaean Hebrew Israel. There was NOT a separate ethnic Arab Palestine people. Those people, the people we call, PalestineArabs, were NOT a separate people.

The genetics 🧬 of 20th-21st century, Jewish roots, is of the same thing as the thousands of years old Judaean Hebrew Israel. That genetics 🧬 rooted kinship of ancient and modern genetics 🧬, is deeply connected. That is NOT the only reason why Jewish people are connected to each other. The people of Zion Judaean Hebrew Israel, did NOT ever stop being the people of Zion Judaean Hebrew Israel.

Their origins are from Irak: The ruins of the biblical city of Ur of the Chaldeans (Ur Kasdim) are located in modern-day Tell el-Muqayyar, Iraq, which is about 200 miles (300 km) southeast of Baghdad. The city was once a coastal city on the Persian Gulf near the mouth of the Euphrates, but the coastline has shifted and it is now inland

G-d gave a portion of the Holy Land to the children of Ishmael. Based on Zohar Shemot 32A ------ [R. Hiyya then says] Woe is to the time that Ishmael was born into the world and was circumcised. What did G‑d do [to appease Ishmael]? He distanced the children of Ishmael from supernal cleaving and gave them [only] a portion below in the Holy Land on account of their circumcision. And in the future, the children of Ishmael are destined to rule over the Holy Land for a long time when it is empty from anything, like their circumcision which is empty and imperfect. And they will prevent the children of Israel from returning to their place until the reward for the merit of the children of Ishmael reaches completion. The children of Ishmael [i.e. the Arab nations] will cause great wars in the world and the children of Edom will gather against them and wage war against them, one on the sea, one on the dry land, and one near Jerusalem. And they [the children of Edom] will rule over them [the children of Ishmael], but the Holy Land will not be given over to the children of Edom. [The children of Edom is the Christian West, for Edom is Rome (see Num. 24:19, Rashi) and Rome signifies Greece-Rome and the Roman Catholic Church, the foundations of Western Civilization] -------------- It had already been prophesied in the Bible that the descendants of Ishmael/Arabs shall administer the Temple Mount/Jerusalem. Isaiah 60:7 "All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory." Kedar is the second son of Ishmael, and founder of the tribe that bore his name (Genesis 25:13). Many Arabs trace their lineage back through Ishmael to Abraham. All the flocks of Kedar - On the word 'Kedar,' see the notes at Isaiah 21:16. The Kedarenians were a wandering tribe that frequently changed their residence, though it is probable they usually dwelt in the south part of Arabia Desert, or the north of Arabia Petraea. They are mentioned as dwelling in beautiful tents Sol 1:5 : 'I am black, but comely as the tents of Kedar,' see Psalm 120:5; compare Isaiah 21:16-17; Isaiah 42:11. The language here also means that that which constituted their principal wealth would come and enrich Jerusalem. The rams of Nebaioth - Nebaioth was also a son of Ishmael Genesis 25:13; 1 Chronicles 1:29, and was the father of the Nabatheans. They were a people of Arabia Petraea, and lived principally by plunder, trade, and the keeping of flocks. The country of Nabathea extended, it is supposed, from the Euphrates to the Red Sea, and embraced Petra, the capital of Arabia Deserts, and also Medaba. It is not possible, however, to fix the exact boundaries of the various tribes of Arabians. The general idea is, that their most valuable possessions would be devoted to God. Dome of the Rock is the Third Temple. There are some interpretations of the Bible that suggest that the construction of the Dome of the Rock is prophesied in the Book of Daniel. Specifically, some people believe that Daniel 12:11 is a prophecy about the building of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. "And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days." [Daniel 12:11] It is a heresy/unholy to think that Jews shall administer Temple Mount/Jerusalem as it had been clear in the Holy scripture that descendants of Ishmael/Arabs had been ordained by G-d to administer Jerusalem/Temple Mount.

Do tell your solution for The Day After the Genocide Stops ? Genuinely interested? Do you think it’s going to go back to the way it was before October 6th ? Will there be War Crimes Trials? Do you think that anyone, including the USA, will settled for anything less than a Two State Solution? Pre67 Borders, East Jerusalem, Golan Heights, and sovereign connectivity between Gaza and the West Bank ? The Saudi’s have already established that as a minimum? The only other possibility, is an inclusiveness Jewish State, ratified by Referendum, based on the 7 Noah Laws, that is inclusive of all monotheistic religions and most eastern religions as well ! This is possible, a inclusive Holy Land, that has created a democracy worthy of the Kingdom of G-D, in the Here & Now ! A Democracy worthy of the Space Age, guaranteed by the UN, and supported by the Arib nations ? A Democracy worthy of a people who have spent so long as the minority within every nation in the world? A Democracy worthy of the cleverest of peoples? Zionism is a failure! 🙈🧐

A true program on this matter would start at the assyrian invasion of the two israelite kingdoms. The temple in jerusalem or zion was destroyed. Many were taken in captivity. Some returned to zion under persian rule. Then, after the destruction of the second temple, and the wars with rome, they were dispersed again into diaspora. The longing to return was expressed in a biblical song, by the rivers of babylon. Starting with herzl is problematic.

Arabist empire colonial settlers, invaded conquered and settled in Zion Judaean Hebrew Israel. That was the land of the Roman Empire, that Rome😂, changed the name of Judaea, into Palestine. Until The Roman Empire created Palestine, there was NOT a country called Palestine. I recognize that the name of Palestine, does exist and Palestine means Israel. That is the common denominator of the two terms of the same region.

48:50 NPR seems to see starting a war is inconsequential apparently, you get the consequences of your war. If the Arabs had massacred the Jews in the war they started then what? This is the core issue with Islam that started on day one when they attacked the Mecans in the 7th century because they felt wronged by them, just use words and politics instead of war and you’ll create a lot less suffering?

Yes! It's convenient to criticize the winners of history. But people don't think about what would have happened to the 350,000 Jewish people if they lost the independence war. They also forget to mention the huge amount of Jewish refugees that fleed other Middle Eastern countries because of the war. Similar to the Nakba.

Israel is an illegally occupying, apartheid, genocidal, ethnocratic, collectively punishing state that encourages the proliferation of illegal settlements. What do you think is going to happen when two countries i.e. France and England create a Jewish state on a piece of land that was peacefully inhabited? What they put in place was a disaster in the making. Good things don't come from a country that is set aside for a select and specific people. People that are under an illegal military occupation have the right to engage in armed resistance. p.s. Israel co-opted Hamas to counter the PLO. #BDS

Jews cannot claim the land of Palestine as their homeland. According to the Orthodox Rabbinout in Israel, Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and his 12 sons were not Jewish. Moses is not aware of modern traditions, Moses did not study even a little bit of the Talmud, Moses did not acknowledge or accept rabbinical authority. All that together with his two gentile wives..... Had Israelis been listening or reasoning with the Torah, then Israelis would realised that they are now living in sins like the times of northern and southern kingdoms. Micah lists specific sins of both the northern and southern kingdoms. These sins include idolatry (1:7; 5:12-14); the seizure of property (2:2, 9); the failure of civil leadership (3:1-3, 9-10; 7:3), religious leadership (3:11), and prophetic leadership (3:5-7, 11); offering sacrifice without truly repenting (6:6-7); and corrupt business practices and violence (6:10-12).
