The last time I brought you this Hoya it was an embarrassment. Now I have a forest of it grown from seed.

Wow the best specimens of manipurensis I've ever seen! Reminds me of an oxalis except on a vine!

That was the heyday of my manipurensis growing. I've really struggled with that plant of late.

Hi Doug, what a coincidence; last night I was watching some of your old videos including the original video of this species and how it had always struggled. It’s amazing how large those seedlings are in such a short time, testament to your care I’m sure.
@DougChamberlainVTHoyas6 жыл бұрын
That is quite a coincidence Jordan. I think it is a testament to luck more than anything else, but it does blow me away about how well these have done when I have struggled and ultimately kill two of these plants in the past.

Even though I’m watching this 5 years later all I can say is wow and well done. This Hoya is now pricey if you can even find it.

I really think that pollination on my manipurensis must have been done by fungus gnats. Although I have a ton of flowers on my one remaining plant, there is absolutely no sign of pollination. I think that is because I am 100% gnat free. I have to say that this is not really a plant worth seeking out unless you can pick one up for really cheap, as honestly it is not very exciting.

Wow! These ones are beautiful. I’ve also been struggling with manipurensis. Mine has been flowering like your parent plant - on its way out! The flowers make me think they belong to the dischidia family instead of hoya. Anyways, definitely an interesting one and thanks for sharing!
@DougChamberlainVTHoyas Жыл бұрын
I have always thought that this plant belong in the Dischidia genus as well! The last couple years I have really struggled with this Hoya. Recently though after spraying the plant with sulfur because I had a flat mite infestation, the plant has now started to grow like crazy. If you are struggling with your plant consider that it might have an invisible pest problem.

That’s amazing! It is such a rare Hoya. I must say I am not a fan of the flower. Hahahaha I am a tad difficult. Nowadays I only look for Hoya that love the flowers. I am more into the classic look Hoya flowers. It looks very much like dischidia flowers. Maybe it will get reclassify in the future.
@DougChamberlainVTHoyas3 жыл бұрын
I think it used to be in the Dischidia genus and it got moved to Hoya, but to me it is a Dischidia and acts just like one!

Hi Doug I came across your videos when I was looking how to care for my first Hoya (carnosa tricolor), my second Hoya obovata, and now I have 11 different ones! Thank you! You gave me the confidence to take care of them. What's your eBay shop? how can I know when these beauties go on sell?
@DougChamberlainVTHoyas6 жыл бұрын
Good question. I will announce it on my daily blog at Ramblings on vermonthoyas.com when the first ones go up for sale. It should be mid to late April and my eBay seller name is erbtarzan24.

I like this plant. I like the shape of the leaves. So cool this happened. What are the little loops you use for trellises? I like those too.
@DougChamberlainVTHoyas4 жыл бұрын
Those trellises are just simple vinyl coated wire bent into a hoop.

@@DougChamberlainVTHoyas I've never seen wire like that. Where can I get some? I love that it's colored.

This is amazing! I watched the original video last night, so this was a fantastic update! Congrats 😊 I was looking at care tips for my new little manipurensis. Do you sell your Hoyas locally? Maybe not while we’re under quarantine?!
@DougChamberlainVTHoyas4 жыл бұрын
No in house sales right now, when we are all so scared of the virus. My manipurensis now has 9 seed pods on it. Crazy little plant. Once you get the plant big enough it is not that hard. Pretty much the same care as any other Hoya. This one wants to only be watered when pretty dry. Does not seem to use very much water. Not too much light either or the leaves turn red which is a sign of stress. Like all Hoyas; does better with good humidity.
@shannonlemley-willis2814 жыл бұрын
Perfect, thank you. She is already putting out three new leaves. We have about 50% humidity inside with radiant heat. Do all your Hoyas go outside in summer? Stay well and enjoy this beautiful day. Hopefully the snow is officially over.
@DougChamberlainVTHoyas4 жыл бұрын
@@shannonlemley-willis281 I put about 60% of my Hoyas outside for the summer. I am limited as to space outside as well as inside.

Hallo!! Please can you tell me how to coltivate the plant? Temperature, watering, light? I cannot understand all your words🙈. Thanks! I am italian
@DougChamberlainVTHoyas3 жыл бұрын
It likes filtered light - not to bright, or the leaves turn red from stress, temperature 20-30C, water when dry. Like most Hoyas does better with good humidity. Hope this helps!

Any recommendations on how to root a cutting of manipurensis? Would water be best? Leca? Thanks!
@DougChamberlainVTHoyas4 жыл бұрын
They develop roots really quickly for me in water, and then I pot them up in tiny pots of regular Hoya mix.
