WW2 ac's saw close combat with other ships while today they are used thousands of kilometres away (far from danger) to support other ships and offensives. Chavda talked about how one missile can destroy an ac, however they are surrounded by friendly ships as fleets which give combined AA to shoot any threat. He assumed AC to be used alone while they are more like movable hq with layers of defenses.

Abhijit Iyer is more for Submarines as being undersea and "stealthy" they can be off Chinese eastern sea side and can attack major Chinese economic targets. The submarines can do this easily, Carriers cannot go to chinese eastern sea unnoticed as it is a big vessel and it would be with carrier group. Also in say CBG vs CBG conflict, our carrier group could be on the receiving side. Hence their position that they prefer Sub to Carrier, Even I share similar view. But not many countries can build carriers and submarines and now we are in that league. Also if you consider cost wise and time to build, Submarines are cheaper and can be built in more nos in same time and money more subs than carriers can be built. But yes, we need Two conventional fuel carriers as these can provide support for our two sea boards, when we cross say 10 trillion of GDP then we can go for power projection by building Nuclear fueled Carriers, Cruisers/destroyers which can help in power projections we already are developing and producing our nuclear attack subs.
