It's not really quite so simple. This rehab represents a cost $10,000, if not more, and the life of a hunter isn't easy or lucrative, as you might imagine.

Maybe the real cruelty is that people have to be able to afford the live saving medical treatment their pets need... and in America, that goes for human beings as well. Maybe the choice he had to make was hard and he cried over it, maybe it didn't bother him much... either way it doesn't matter when the point is desire plays no part in whether or not someone can afford it.

@@hughmac13 You can find documentaries and many news stories about the issue of Spanish “hunters” and the galgos (their dog breed of choice). I love Spain and Spanish people, but it beggars belief how cruelly these dogs are treated; it’s much, much worse than garbage, tbh. The sad reality is that, in all likelihood, this dog’s previous owner was directly and _intentionally_ responsible for its condition.

majority of people consider animals worthless with a few exceptions such as dogs & cats - look at the cruelty and violence we subject farm animals to. look at how dairy cows, pigs and chickens are treated - not to mention the food waste that comes out of animal agriculture- literally we treat them like trash

Yea it makes me want to do the same. Have rich dad and making good $ w business. Want to buy 1200 acres and give a lot of animals a good life. Everything from bats to dogs to cats to lions maybe and farm animals that won't be killed but milked as they have to be milked daily when not pregnant or something like that. Not many shelters out there that can give dogs an amazing life since the big $ often goes to the wrong people.

As a hunter, abandoning your hunting buddy is disgusting. It's the hunters responsibility to take care of them in their old age or in case of permanent injury because the dog gave their everything to the hunter. I would not be surprised if the hunter also just hunts for throphies and wastes the gained meat

I don't understand how people can give up on their dogs so easily when all they've done is give you endless love. My dog right now has diabetes, cataracts and glaucoma and requires a lot of care and attention but I could never just give up on him.

I agree, malnutrition will deplete the body of vital nutrients and start to wither the body away to where it one day just stops working.

This dog looks like it may be a Podenco or a similar sighthound breed, which are naturally thin! They would be considered extremely obese if they looked like what the average dog is expected to look like.

I think it's a mix of both, even the skinnier breed like this I've seen didn't have thier ribs showing so much. They look way too obvious, even with her short coat.

The hunter might not have been cruel. She had an injury and he didnt have the time or knowledge to dedicate to her getting well. He could have had her put down but instead he found these people and put her in their hands in hopes that she'd be better off. It would have been really easy to have her put down, remember that.

@@drizzo4669 Honestly, I completely agree with you. If I had a dog that suddenly couldn’t walk, and didn’t know why- I wouldn’t know what to do. I could not afford thousands of dollars of vet bills and hundreds of hours of therapy. I could not possibly dedicate that money or time into her journey. I would give her away to a foundation, because I couldn’t provide anything for her. They never even explained what happened to make her paralyzed aside from “inflammation.” She is a beautiful dog with an amazing personality and she deserved a new lease on life but if I were the original owner o would have been at a loss in the beginning as well.

You Will Build Up in Strength, just do what You Can, When You Can, then You Will be Able to Gain Mobility. Hold onto a Stable chair back, Make Sure it will take your weight. Bend your legs to the floor with a straight back, even if only a little bend. Over time You might be able to go right down, and then push up. I had some falls, so Strengthened up my legs. Going up and down stairs is good too. I realize that you may, or may not be up for these things yet, but try them when you're ready, Take Care.

This little dog has so much character and I am so pleased she was able to walk again with your care. I had a lurcher who was knocked over by another dog and severely bruised her spinal chord. She was in hospital for a week and was able to walk again but still had problems with her sciatic nerve. She was a happy dog and lived till she was 18 years old a very precious girl

I had a 🐕, Floppy, who was old when I got him. The last 4 months of his life he couldn't walk, so I would take him to the park and let him hang out and I would pick him up and move him from spot to spot. When a 🐕 can't fully function is when they need your love the most!

Yaaaaaaay, hope she forgets about the hunter. And never thinks about him. I can relate, I was 41, had a massive stroke paralyzed my left hand and arm.and left side weakness, have to use a cane to walk now, thank God for your all help.

It was never mentioned that he treated her bad,he simply,probably,could not take care of her. Maybe he only lived off of hunting,so dedicating 24/7 to a dog is not something he could have done.. I used to have a cat name Apai, he was also paralyzed and couldn't move.. But we tried really hard to make him walk again but we gave up because it's impossible to make him walk again.. So we spend time together, went to a hotel, went to a beach, travel in a car even if he cannot move. We had so much memories together, and I'll never forget those happy memories together.. Rest in peace Apai, I hope you're playing up there with your new Family ♥️

I had a massive stroke in January where I lost my motor skills, use of my left side and my speech. I know exactly what this sweet baby went through and let me say it is both heartbreaking and infuriating to want to move your body and you simply can’t. Seeing Avellana wag her tail when all she could do was lie there told you everything. She was a fighter and wasn't giving up even though her owner gave up on her. I'm so thankful this rescue team found her and put in so much hard work (along with Avellana of course 😉) to get her walking again and in the best forever home imaginable!

Looks like she was recently nursing puppies and I can't help wondering what happened to them. The misery that so called humans inflict on living creatures is just sickening. So glad she is in safe hands now.

I love how she collects blankets. It makes sense, cause she is thin. The blankets are like a matress give comfort and warmth for such a thin body.

After the end of the hunting season in parts of Spain, especially in the communities of Castile and Leon, Extremadura and Andalusia, hunters get rid of their dogs by abandoning them or by destroying them, then buy new dogs the following years. It's very tragic and needs to be outlawed. Goggle it online and you will see, very common practice to dump this kind of breed of dog.

@@jadams3877 happens in the US too with hound dogs 💔💔💔 I rescued one who was found on a diet road. His collar had been embedded and ripped out. It was horrific but he made a full recovery and a friend adopted him ❤️

I have been madly in love with dogs since I was a small child. Dogs can teach us so much about unconditional love, friendship, and resilience. What a wonderful bunch of dedicated folks that rehab animals. Bravo!!!

The look in her face just melted my Soul.... This wasn't the life she chose.... No dog would choose this kind of life.... Same with those that are used for fighting...It's always a Cruel person using animals for their own selfish purposes.... To see her walk just made me cry Tears of Joy...God Bless these people for giving her a brand new start and God Bless the Beautiful Lady that adopted her,.... The rest of her days will be filled with nothing but Love....and She's earned that.....

Adding another bit of clothing to her "collection " with a wagging tail made me want to laugh and cry at the same time. Avellana...an amazing story of determination and patience from the therapists and herself!! So glad that she got adopted by Anne and is having the best life possible.🙏🥰

My then 12 yr old jack russell mix was paralyzed in the back legs and I did extra therapy with him. By vet trip three he was fixed good as new. Good job and great recovery for that wonderful dog.

She is so inspiring. I just love how she was wagging her tail and keeping herself happy, that worthless owner she had didnt realize how much joy this dog could bring. Seeing her play with the other dog made me tear up myself even.

How do you know that the owner didn’t care for her? The hunter probably loved her but couldn’t go on with her because most hunters have sad lives and are not rich.

"worthless owner"? Boy, are you judgemental... he's a hunter, not a physical therapist. What the hell was he supposed to do according to you? He did exactly what he was supposed to do, he gave the dog to people who _could_ help it.
