Any update on the house site

Man, I never thought I would get a kick out of watching this type of work but it's pretty cool! GREAT video!!!

The difference between a good 3pt box blade operator and a guy just running a box blade is knowing how to use the cutting edge on the back of the box blade. 👍 That cuts out your washboard, while the front cutting edge does the fine grading. Amazing work as always Pete. You guys are a full-on landscaping operation, and it's awesome that you can keep expanding what you offer to customers.

Distance between points of contact with the ground is the greatest benefit of length in making the road feel "level" as you drive on it. Look at how a motor grader is built, they keep the wheels as far apart as possible with the blade in the center of them. This makes the high spots easier to cut down with the lower spots and fill those lower spots as the blades raises while you are on higher spots with the wheels. It might look goofy and be harder to transport, but making the tongue of a trailer/towed item longer makes it easier to maneuver but there might be a small work around for that too by increasing the length of the tail wheels you currently have on it. If you can alter each of those wheels to raise and lower independently, then you can set an angle to the blade to cast right or left. I am not sure if that is possible with the way yours is currently built but it could be altered to work that way.

Well a 3 point box blade with the tractor equipped with hydraulic lift and tilt cylinders would also work pretty good. And for a homeowner I believe is a less expensive way to do this.

Looks good, Pete! Regarding 3pt vs hydraulic box blades, you'd mentioned wanting to get longer rippers to be able to rip without grading. With a 3pt BB you can accomplish this with stock-sized teeth by simply tilting the back of the bb up (shortening the upper link)... That doesn't look to be an option with that hydro bb. The hydro/drag-type bb does seem to leave a nicer finish with fewer passes (probably due to the wheels), but I was able to get a perfectly smooth finish on my own driveway using my 3pt bb... and I'd never used a bb before. It just took a few more passes (at a higher speed). It's just a learning curve, that's all. The advantage to a 3pt bb is that when you're done grading you can drop the back of the bb (lengthen the upper link) and "smooth" the surface after you're done grading. Regarding dragging stuff to the middle, a scraper blade does help with that but you can get pretty much the same effect by simply tilting the bb to one side. You started to do just that with your bb at the 7:32-7:33 mark. Just drop one side down (leaving the other side up off the ground) and let it cut the surface. The material will "spill" over to the "lifted" side and move material to the middle. It's not as fast (or arguably as aggressive) as a scraper blade, but it certainly works.
