Here's my idea of a racing world cup: (no oval races or rally stages I'm afraid) Pre-Qualifying stage: The lowest ranked 40 nations will be divided into two group events every race weekend 2 weekends at Abu Dhabi & Dubai in February. Everyone will use a Ferrari 488 GT3 and compete in 3 races per weekend. 12 races will held in total, but every nation only does 6 races (every race only features 20 cars). An accumulative points table will combine everyone's points, where the highest 20 nations progress to the next stage: the play-off round. There will also be a ballot to determine which nation competes in every race to avoid the same nations racing the same nations repeatedly. All races will be limited to 45 minutes, with no extra lap added. Play-off stage: 20 pre-qualifying nations will join 30 chartered nations (UK, USA, Italy etc) in this round. They do NOT carry their points from pre-qualifying into this round. Again, everyone races Ferrari 488 GT3s and divided into 2 group events per weekend. 6 races per weekend will be held, with everyone competing in 3 of them. 2 weekends at Magny-Cours, Morocco, Tunisia, Hockenheim, Brno and/or Kymi Ring will be held. An accumulative points table will decide the 22 nations who will progress to the championship round. One round will be held in May, the other in early August. All races will be limited to 60 minutes, with a bonus lap included. Championship stage: 22 highest nations from the play-offs qualify for the championship round. Everyone will now race a Dallara F2 car. Points from the play-off will be carried over into this final round. The championship round will consist of 5 races held over one weekend at a single venue. The weekend will consist of testing on Thursday and Friday. Qualifying for races 1 & 2 will commence on Friday afternoon, whilst qualifying for races 3 & 4 will commence on Saturday morning. Race 1 and 2 will commence during Sat afternoon, with race 2 reversing the qualifying top 10 order of race 1. Race 3 will commence on Sunday morning 9:30am, race 4 at 1pm. Race 4 will reverse the order of the qualifying top 10 grid of race 3. Race 5 will commence at 4:30pm. This final race will have its grid order decided by championship positions and only the top 15 will be permitted to compete. Indianapolis, Melbourne, Sepang, Mugello, Silverstone, Nurburgring and Spa-Francorchamps are prime candidates for this blue ribbon event. It will be held in mid-August.

Kaz Grala would be eligible to run for Poland as their oval specialist; his father Darius was born a Polish citizen, and under Poland's jus sanguinis nationality law, Kaz is thus eligible for Polish citizenship too if he wants it. Italy also miiiiight be able to snag Joey Logano for the same reason, depending on how many generations removed his family is, but I'm less certain about that.

The problem with a racing World cup (particularly when A1GP was a thing) is that drivers will treat it like how footballers treat international football: a chore. Btw Kimi Raikkonen has not announced a formal retirement from racing, but Sirotkin quit after 2020. Pastor Maldonado is still racing, I think. You could pick Kalle Rovanpera for Finland and Ogier and Loeb for France as alternatives. Honestly, your idea is very similar to the FIA Motorsport Games, but significantly more expensive. It's more likely the A1GP format will be used, but a much shorter schedule 📅

Here’s my take on this. Have the car be nascar next gen cup cars. Have them race on road courses Super speedways Dirt tracks Short ovals And mile an a halfs. Yeah I know the current short track package isn’t that great in all and there have been decent road course races. Use the nascar points format minus the stages. What the hell was nascar thinking during the off season !!!!!

Circuit de Nevers aka Magny-Court has been dropped by F1 because it is literally in the middle of nowhere with little infrastructure around it, which usually made for very bad audience figures.
