@@davidmanheim266 yes, i agree. But that would make the rabbi's argument a straw man fallacy. I mean there have been a lot of things in this video that the rabbi said that were incorrect or absolutely wrong. For example, Jihad is definitely not a pillar of Islam in Shia Islam. Most attacks in the name of Jihad are being performed by "Sunni" extremists like ISIS, Al Qaeda, and Boko Haram. I thinkin this case he is referring tho to Hamaz wich is in opposition to the state of Israel. But Hamas is fighting a geopolitical war, not an islamic jihad. There is no major shia scholar (Grand Ayatollah) that has declared jihad a pillar of Islam. And this is just one example. So as demonstrated not everything the Rabbi said is 100% correct and representative of Shia or Sunni Islam and it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Many of them are not so religious and saying that stuff and very religious people are more hostile. So it has a lot to do with a hostile culture and teachings against the Jews inside the religious community. The Imams failed to educate their own followers. In the European Muslim community over 60% having antisemitic views about Jews. Its sadly a fact. Antisemitic attitudes in many Muslim-majority countries are high, including in those countries where the majority of European Muslims, or their parents, origi- nate. Indeed, a 2014 Anti-Defamation League (ADL) survey revealed that 74 percent of the population in Middle Eastern and North African countries agreed with at least six out of eleven antisemitic statements. The numbers rose to 87 per- cent in Algeria, 75 percent in Egypt, 92 percent in Iraq, 81 percent in Jordan, 87 percent in Libya, 80 percent in Morocco, 74 percent in Saudi Arabia, 86 percent in Tunisia, and 69 percent in Turkey.2 The Pew Global Attitudes Project, using a sim- pler questionnaire, yielded similar results and included Pakistan and Indonesia. The only representative comparative survey of different European countries that distinguishes between Muslims and non-Muslims was conducted by the Pew Global Attitudes Project in April 2006.5 Unfortunately, only a single ques- tion was used to measure antisemitic attitudes.6 The study showed that Muslims in France, Germany, and Spain were twice as likely as non-Muslims to harbor negative views of Jews. The factor was almost seven for Great Britain. The dif- ference is even greater concerning “very unfavorable” views of Jews. In 2006, Muslims were three to ten times more likely to harbor “very unfavorable” views of Jews than did non-Muslims in France, Germany, and Great Britain. The factor was slightly lower in Spain, where negative views of Jews were by far the highest among both Muslims (60 percent) and the general population (39 percent). Other surveys confirm particularly high levels of antisemitic attitudes in Spain in the general population. isgap.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Jikeli_Antisemitic_Attitudes_among_Muslims_in_Europe1.pdf www.jstor.org/stable/j.ctt16gzdvm

12:20 I disagree Muslims have not chosen to pray 5 times a day in order to compete with Jews. Muslims were actually supposed to pray 50 times a day but Prophet Musa advised Prophet Muhammad to ask Allaah to reduce it because people won't be able to do it. Anas bin Malik and Ibn Hazm said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, enjoined fifty prayers upon my Ummah, and I came back with that until I passed by Musa, peace be upon him, who said: 'What has your Lord enjoined upon your Ummah?' I said: 'He has enjoined fifty prayers on them.' Musa said to me: 'Go back to your Lord, the Mighty and Sublime, for your Ummah will not be able to do that.' So I went back to my Lord, the Mighty and Sublime, and He reduced a portion of it. Then I came back to Musa and told him, and he said: 'Go back to you Lord, for your Ummah will not be able to do that.' So I went back to my Lord, the Mighty and Sublime, and He said: 'They are five (prayers) but they are fifty (in reward), and the Word that comes from Me cannot be changed.' [1] I came back to Musa and he said: 'Go back to your Lord.' I said: 'I feel too shy before my Lord, the Mighty and Sublime.'" [1]See Surah Qaf 50:29. Sunan an-Nasa'i 449

Let me make some clarifications here. 1. We pray 5 times a day which was given as gift from god. We dont see any where this as a competition between us and jews. Our prayers has nothing to do with Jews. 2. We as Muslims never claimed that jews copied their bible from Qur'an. Infact Quran itself address Jews as people of book and address them and makes a reminder for them how God glorified them and how they were disobedient towards god in return.

Thanks a lot, Rabbi Taylor, for providing this venue for learning the views of Judaism on Islam. I would like to rebuttal some points that you raised about Islam, Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him, and The Noble Quran. Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him never advocated converting people to Islam by force. In The Noble Quran, Allah decrees: "There is no compulsion in religion", which is an important rule in Islam. The five daily prayers order was given by Allah to Prophet Muhammad, and has nothing to do with emulating Judaism. Hajj has been performed since the time of Prophet Ibrahim Peace Be Upon Him. Aashoraa is observed by Muslims to celebrate the escape of Prophet Moses Peace Be Upon Him, and his people from Egypt. Aashoraa is the tenth day of the Islamic Hijri calendar. Most importantly, Aashoraa is a voluntary fast; one of many throughout the year, and does not replace the obligatory fasting of Ramadhan. As for the stories of the prophets and messengers of Allah, no Islamic scholars ever claimed that Judaism took these stories from The Quran. In fact, despite the general similarity of the stories of the prophet and messengers in both faiths, they are viewed with a different lens in Islam. In Islam, the prophets and messengers of Allah [Adam, Noah, Ibrahim, Isaac, Ismail, Jacob, Joseph, etc.] are highly respected and viewed as humans to whom imperfections, immorality, and lust cannot be attributed. I would recommend reviewing the stories of, say, Prophets Joseph, Lut, David, Soliman, or Moses Peace Be Upon Them in The Noble Quran. Muslims do not worship Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him [if "glorifying him at mosques" means worshipping him], or disrespect The Torah. We disagree with the parts of The Torah and The New Testament that oppose the Islamic views on Allah, His prophets, and the fundamental teachings of Islam, but believing in the previous Words of Allah are one of the Fundamentals of the Islamic faith. I would recommend reading about Prophet Muhammad and his teachings from neutral sources. One author that comes to mind is the self-described "agnostic Jewish" author Lesley Hazleton. I recommend her book "The First Muslim", or this short talk as a starting point to learn more about Islam and its great prophet: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b8dzasWGuaivpmQ.html I also would strongly recommend this conversation between a Rabbi, a Catholic priest, and a Muslim scholar: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f7R5eplkm7nShWg.html Thanks, and Assalamu Alaikum [Peace Onto You]

Islam can be summed up in one statement: A continuous unprovoked attack on all faiths and all people from start to end. There is no single statement about love or tolerance in Islamic books. "Innama Almushrikoona Najas" - those who associate partners with God are dirty people. "Do not take Jews and Chrristians as friends and allies.. " "Fight those infidels who are nearest to you..." Islam makes all people "mushrikoon" whether they like it or not, including Jews. It says that Jews believe that "Uzair (or Ezra) is the son of Allah" something that never happened. Islam's worst enemies seem to be Christistians because allegedly worship 3 Gods. Yet it never mentioned Hindues who worship hundreds of Gods." Islam is Hatred.

I thought the only additional prophet in Islam is Mohammed so not sure it’s correct to claim that the prophets in the Quran were better. By the way, Lot and David were not prophets, one of the key prophets in David‘s time was Samuel and Lot’s claim to fame was because he was Abraham‘s nephew but also to illustrate God’s wrath and punishment of wrongdoing (aka Sodom and Gommorah). It was also to slander the descendants of the alleged illicit relationship with his daughters. By the way, the story was his daughters got him drunk so they could continue the bloodline because all the men around had been wiped out (Sodom and Gommorah). Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him didn't replace Aashora for Ramadan, Aashora is still fasted by Muslims as the prophet said "We Muslims are most worthy of [celebrating Moses Peace be Upon him] Moses than Israelites", Ramadan is a mandatory fast mentioned in the Quran, while Aashora fasting isn't but desirable due to the abovementioned saying of our prophet.

The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, came to Medina and found the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura, so they were asked about that. They said: This is the day on which God made Moses and the Children of Israel victorious over Pharaoh, and we are fasting on it to glorify him. Then, the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: We are closer to Musa than you, so he commanded that we fast. The full text for your reference. So before Ramadan was mandated in the Quran, Ashura fasting was mandatory. Then it became desirable after Ramadan. There was no replacement whatsoever by the prophet, peace be upon him, himself. Allah himself mandated Ramadan, and then the prophet left Ashura as optional, and Muslims used to and still fast it till this day.

Shalom. At 19:57 the respected Rabbi states "They claim that we took it from them 1500 years ago". With all due respect to the Rabbi, this claim is inaccurate. Muslims, by principle and in the modern world, do not claim that the Jewish religion or Jewish people "took" anything. Instead the Qur'an says that it is a "confirmation of that which came before it" and that it is a "guidance for those who believe in what was revealed to you and what was revealed before you (I.e the Torah and the Gospel). Muslims to this day, following the word of the Quran, see their religion as the revealed continuation from the same universal God that gave the covenant to the children of Israel. Therefore there is no claim of theft or even adaptation, but rather confirmation and continuation.

Great lecture, Rabbi Pinchas Taylor. A few corrections if you'll allow me, though since this video was made 7yrs ago, I am sure you have learned more details about Islam. 1. There is a diversity of interpretations in Islam and therefore, Muslim practice of faith will also differ. There are Muslims who will deny this but that is just stubborn ignorance, if not arrogance. 2. The original meaning of the word jlhad, as was explained by Muhammad, is for one to gain mastery over one's ego - nafs - by way of allowing one's higher level of consciousness, or the soul - ruh/ru'ah to emerge. 3. The Qur'anic revelation does not state that the Torah is corrupt. In chapter 3, verse 3, it states, "It is He (God) Who has sent down the Book (the Qur’an) to you (Prophet Muhammad ) with truth, confirming what came before it. And he sent down the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel).” So, the divinity of the Torah is not nor can it be rejected because of the Unicity of God, in that it is the same God who revealed before. In another verse, the Qur'an relates that some of the scripture, as revealed by God, were later misinterpreted by people which led to misunderstandings, if not deliberate misguiding followers. This ignorance can easily be seen in the falling back to the worshipping of a golden calf during the time of Moses. Humanity swerves and sways from divine guidance, and this is why in the belief of monotheistic religions, with Islam being the culminating confirmation of that which came before, God has sent prophets to humanity throughout time so as to guide them from darkness and ignorance, and into light. Were it not the case, the revelation wouldn't have been necessary. Moreover, the stories found in the Torah that appear in the Qur'an are not the full story. It is assumed by the Qur'an, if not required, that the reader is also well versed in the previous scripture. In the Qur'an, these stories are related once again in order to place emphasis on the meaning/message behind the story, which one could argue, is the actual point. Take for example the story of Adam and Eve, while perhaps differently understood in both Judaism and Christianity, tends to be seen as the story of the creation of human beings, with the emphasis being on the original sin. In the Qur'an however, the story is retold but its meaning emphasizes God's mercy. And so ultimately, we are all Adam and Eve who when navigating the trials and tribulations of human life, will make mistakes on a daily basis. But rather than being blamed by God for simply being human, He reminds us to seek refuge in Him and in His mercy. I think one might find this more pallatable than the former conclusion of being cast out from the garden of Eden. 4. Based on your comments regarding your worldview, it makes perfect sense that the God of Judaism who abhors idolatry would be the same God that would reveal anew, this time to a region whose inhabitants were staunchly idolatrous and whose social moral fabric had frayed into ignorance. It is also the same God who went from being One to then becoming part of a trinity along with being anthropomorphised as in Christianity. It follows, then, that the Qur'anic revelation was not an 'offshoot' of the Jewish faith but a reaffirmation of God's mercy to all of humanity (rather than just to a specific group of people), to guide all who had forgotten and/or misunderstood His message. To state otherwise would be to suggest, if not to believe, that upon the completion of God's revelation of the Torah, He fell into a deep slumber never to be heard from again. That would be antithetical to Him being a Just God, not to mention one who is ever-present and all-aware. That being said, I appreciated listening to your lecture!

@@networkadmin4076 I have a good insight into history and politics. The early aggression of Islam toward other states was part of defensive strategy as at that time all empires were trying to extend and it was common to attack other areas to extend the states. Common in Roman, Persian or other states whoever get chance. If muslims would not fight for extension that time, they would have been extinct by the hands of other states. BUT, I don’t think in modern world when countries have established boundaries, any Muslim state would dare to attack any other state. It’s also not possible after establishment of UN. In fact, after 16th century, only countries showed aggression toward other areas are the western world. So what’s the problem, if a Muslim state want to run there own country by there own laws. We should just leave everyone alone in there state matters and have good relations with each other and lives happily. I don’t think that Christian or Jews should be thinking now that if muslims get chance, they will show aggression again. I think time is changed and it not gonna happen again. Same as no one gonna built and extend a Roman Empire, no Mongols gonna come to conquer the world or no country gonna colonized other countries now. In my views, Israel conflict should also be resolved by a two nation theory and muslims should accept that, rather then fighting to demolish a Jew state. Everyone can live happily. I really don’t understand why states fight with each other, mostly though it’s because of resources. But, do you think all world can come to a resolution to share the earth resources equally for all human beings? I think western world would be the first to object that then why not just leave the resources for the countries who owns that. In conclusion, I don’t think a political Islam should be a concern for Christian or Jews or western world anymore. Only thing different in political Islam then modern world is, no markup on loans, death penalty on killings and no sexual content in public eyes, so what’s a big deal if a Muslim state want to do that in there territory? @@JB-qu1ku Islam did not undergo any meaningful reform, and all attempts at reform were aborted. I am not against Muslims as people, the problem is in the texts. Frankly honest Muslims recognize the danger of Islamic texts more than others and are outspoken about it. Islamic invasions stretched way beyond what is reasonable. From China and India to the Spain, including the whole middle east and north africa and 548 battles to try to occupy Europe. What stopped Islam's expansion is its internal deterioration. The Ottoman empire was backward and created so much misery. Enough that the printing press was banned for more than 300 years, which made the Muslim world lag behind the rest of the world. You don't find any new invention or any meaningful progress under the Ottomans for over 600 years. This is what paved the way to Western imperialism, which was still short lived and did not devastate original cultures and identities the way Islam did. The problem of Islam is the dominant ideas inside the minds of most Muslims, which spring from the aggressiveness of the Islamic texts. Al-Azhar is a backward institution and from it graduated many terrorists. Its curriculum is scaring. I read the stuff in Arabic, I know what I am talking about. The danger of Islam is great, I say this as an honest expression based on extensive investigation. I hope that Muslims, for their own sake, will halt their destructive trends and become a force for the good.

I am a Muslim and I am proud to learn that Judaism and Islam have a lot in common. Although I find your study very interesting I cannot help it but to assert that from the very first messenger sent by God up until the last messenger, it is the same monotheistic religion developing over time to reach its full potential. The Oneness of God is the universal message with all the messengers. That is to mention that Adam Idris (Enoch) Nuh (Noah) Hud (Heber) Saleh (Methusaleh) Lut (Lot) Ibrahim (Abraham) Ismail (Ishmael) Ishaq (Isaac) Yaqub (Jacob) Yusuf (Joseph) Shu’aib (Jethro) Ayyub (Job) Dhulkifl (Ezekiel) Musa (Moses) Harun (Aaron) Dawud (David) Sulayman (Solomon) Ilyas (Elias) Alyasa (Elisha) Yunus (Jonah) Zakariya (Zachariah) Yahya (John the Baptist) Isa (Jesus) Muhammad. all received one message and that is to worship God alone. I believe we should all as monotheistic worshippers acknowledge that our moral values are almost the same and our worship towards the One and only God more or less puts us on the same page. Thanks Rabbi for your analysis which I found intriguing and honest.

What I understand, the claim is Adam as first Muslim from human kind not the first to practice Islam. Islam was not the first and just came out of nowhere 1400 years ago but the "Muslim" has been arround since begining of mandkind and you can still find a clip on you tube where a Rabbi talk abt an ancient group often perform sacrafice on temple mount along with the Jew. This group identified themself as " Muslim". Muslim doesn't necessary means those who practice Islam but those who submit to the law or Shariah that God gave to them no matter what form of law it was. Every prophet came with certain law/rule that is not necessary to be similar to previous prophets. Even Jin kind has their own set of Shariah which is absolutely different from Shariah gave to us Human but Jin who submit their self to this law is considered as a "Muslim" from jin kind. Then regarding Muhammad, He didn't come to bring back original. There is no original as every prophet and nation were given different set of rule. What Muhammad did was to clear all those false claim and stories (such as claim of Jesus as Son of God, God need to die to forgive sin, God created heaven and earth then felt fatigue so got to rest on 7th day, claim of Lot incest etc) and then conveyed a specific law God gave to His nation (Islam) and in some narration He also brought Shariah for the Jin kind that abolished the previous Shariah brought by Moses.

@@davidmanheim266 the only religion God commanded the people to follow is ‘submission’ to him aka ‘Islam’. God never commanded the people to be Jewish or Christian or Buddhist etc. These are man made names that God has no business with. His only religion has always been and will always be Islam (submission). That some nations have decided to change the name of their religion to something else is on them not on God. It only proves God’s statements in the scripture and the Quran, as well as the findings of text analysis experts and scholars, that the scripture has been altered on various levels in various times. One major change was succumbing to the ruling power’s choice of words to describe this group of people “Jews” based on geographical and ethnic factors, instead of “Israelites” (bloodline) and instead of “Muslims” (religion/description of all the prophets and their followers). When the Muslims were being dragged to the same trap of their identity being refashioned after the name of a man ‘Muhammadans’, they staunchly refused this centuries-long attempt and insisted in countless writings that the Muslims are not Muhammadans and do not know what Muhammadanism entails. Eventually, the naming dropped by time due to the Muslims fierce resistance. Almost all religions in the world now - except Islam- are renamings of an older religion after the name of a man or group of men (ie. Juda, Christ, Buddha, etc). Bottom line is, Islam is not a ‘newer’ religion. Islam is the first, oldest and only religion sent by God to all the people. God has only one religion, not two, not three.

So one thing to point out that’s factually incorrect (16:30) is that Muslims still fast for Ashura (the day Moses freed the Israelites) and it’s emphasized that they fast two days instead on one. Ramadan is something entirely different.

Enjoyed the lecture as a muslim. the lecture was based on a very openminded worldview and would help bring people worshipping One God closer. we need more lectures to bridge the gap. Few comments: 1. If the Quran is so similar to Torah in theology, it could either be copied from Torah or could be a revelation from the same source i.e the One God. A human being who is reciting the Quran in a pagan land where countless dieties are worshipped and is proclaiming the message of just One God. Not only that, he is also being persecuted and has to migrate to another city for his belief in One God (the same theology that Jews so revere) and finally establishing a religion based on the worship of One God despite all the opposition to his views, within 23 years of his ministry which is persisting until now since his life time. This human is also offering the strongest critique to Trinity in a pagan land with not many Christians, just because it violates the pure monotheism mentioned in the Torah. Why can't this man be an actual Prophet than someone who is just copying the Torah. if this wasn't this the stage set for coming of a Prophet who destroys a pagan society, replaces it with the pure Abrahamic monotheism and also counters the belief of Trinity that has corrupted the true monotheism, then what else would that stage be when God sends a Prophet. 2. The Quran doesn't ask people to not believe in Torah. Rather it says we have to believe in the Torah and Gospel being from God. it says in multiple places that the Torah is from the same One God. It just says that it was not preserved in its purest form. 3. All muslims do is pray to the same one God. And about Muhammad, they only think he is a human being and pray for him for his work on saving monotheism which was desperately needed and thus he was God's man and Prophet. Don't think this should make any Jew not come to a mosque.

Thank you, Rabbi for this talk. As a Muslim, I was skeptical at the description/discussion about Islam by others, mainly because people who speak about other religions typically have an agenda that doesn't involve speaking fairly about the other religions. And while I was not taught all of the things that you mentioned about Islam (some are mentioned in other comments), I think your presentation was probably the best that one can expect from someone who is a religious person but not a Muslim. I particularly enjoyed the references to Maimonides, born in Cordoba, and who had many interactions with Muslims in Spain. One thing I would note, is that although spreading the message of Islam (da'wah) was instructed by our Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) in the his final sermon to spread this message to all of those who are not present, Muslims also believe that Jews and Christians who believe in God and the day of Judgment and perform good deeds, to them belongs a reward with their Lord and that they need not fear nor worry. (2:62) Jews and Christians are highlighted in the Qur'an as special status as People of the Book. Therefore, there is a place in Islam for non-Muslims and it isn't "My way or the highway", although Muslims do believe that our road to salvation is more correct and universally applicable. When you talked about the the reasons why Islam and Judaism is not congruent, you mentioned that it was because Muslims not accepting the divinity of the Torah. This is the case even though the Qur'an refers to the Torah a divine book, but also states that the current version has been changed is different from the original version. End of the day, we are more alike than we are different in many of the key factors. I appreciate his comments at the end and I think it leaves room for believers from many religions to find common ground with each other and pray for each other, in hope of God's salvation.

I find it fascinating that the Jewish position on Islam is basically that Islam is correct. Judah Halevi's argument against Islam in the Kuzari is that the Prophet Muhammad's miracles were smaller than the Prophet Moses (note - he didn't deny Muhammad had miracles), and that the Quran was written in Arabic which the King of the Khazars couldn't read (but the Kuzari was written in Arabic, so neither Judah nor his audience could use this excuse). The analogy with Prophet Jonah in this video was also fascinating. Judaism essentially leaves room for non-Jewish prophets. The city of Mosul (Nineveh) was a guided, but not Israelite, city for a time.

Thanks to rabbi Pinchas Taylor for this presentation. It was truly educational and presented a fair objective view on Islam. At 19:45, the rabbi mentioned that Muslims claim Jews have taken those stories from Muslims. However, I have never heard any Muslim making such a claim, nor is it mentioned anywhere in the Quran. In fact, the Quran addresses the children of Israel or people of the book and reminds them of what they have in their own books. Therefore, the claim is false and unfounded.

The Torah, the foundational text of Judaism, contains no hint that a messiah is to be expected. While the word mashiakh (“messiah”) does appear four times in the text, namely in Leviticus chapters 4 and 6, it has nothing to do with messianism: it simply means “anointed,” referring to a consecrated priest. So what's your points???

Prophet Muhammad -Peace be upon Him- is not the founder of Islam. He is a Messenger sent by God, the Creator of everything, to relay His message to human kind. The Quran was revealed in Arabic. So, in order to understand it, you need to KNOW the Arabic language. If you are judging the Quran based on some translations you’ve read then you have been misled and are misleading others. In other words, with all due respect, if you are not proficient in the Arabic language then you do NOT qualify to interpret or criticize the Quran, and hence Islam, for the simple reason that you do NOT understand it, no matter how good the translation is.

When it was first revealed and the non-believers - who were well versed in the Arabic language - heard it they could not find any faults in it or criticise its structure so they called it “magic”. Besides, in addition to the apparent meaning of its verses (which the translated text conveys) they have more than one hidden (or esoteric) meaning that cannot be conveyed in one single translation. Surah Maidah 82 says: "You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allāh; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant." Some may take this verse as a definitive rejection of jews. However, the end of the verse xlearly states that this enemosity is only logical if they are ARROGANT. The equivalent of that in our current times are people who disregard others as humans. Racists and Supremacists. I don't agree with everything this respectful rabbi said, but as many other jews, he was respectful and non-arrogant. As a Shia I can only respect that and can have no enemosity towards that.

Religion is not a competition, nor does anyone have a patent on God. What this fellow is trying to portray is that Islam is some watered down spinoff of Judaism-when in fact, the divine message has been revealed though progressive revelation and the multiplicity of prophets. Why is it that Jews believe that they alone have the path to God and nobody else????

I am an atheist, born and raised as a Catholic, always being interested in understanding monotheistic religions from a sociological/anthropological/philosophical point of view. What I find interesting is how Judaism and Islam are much more closer to each other than what they both are compared to Christianism (in particular Catholicism and Orthodoxism). Both Judaism and Islam consider God (Allah or Yahweh) as a supreme, vindictive, powerful, merciful and compassionate entity which sits on top of everything. God is Unique, it is not generated and will not generate. All the humans are below him (masculine pronouns used in both religions). Humans intercede with God through the help of Prophets. All the Jewish Prophets are recognised by Islam, including Jesus (Isa'a). Jesus although not recognised as a Prophet by Judaism (i.e. he is a "false" Prophet). Nevertheless, both religions strongly do not consider Jesus to be the Son of God or the Messiah (sort of last Prophet). Both Islam and Judaism are waiting for the Messiah. In Islam, in particular for Shia muslims, the Messiah might be associated to the figure of Imam Zaman (Imam Mahdi). Islam is therefore, logically, the direct continuation of the traditional Semitic monotheist tradition. Islam shares the same principle and has the competitive advantage of being the "last" religion, with everything centered around the figure of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the "Seal of Prophets" (SA). What makes a lot of sense is also the fact the Holy Qur'an was written in Arabic. Arabic is the language used by Allah to communicate with the Prophet and what is contained in the book is a "like for like" transcription, with no manipulations. For instance, the New Testament was supposedly written in Aramaic and then underwent several translations in different ancient languages such as ancient Greek and Latin. The Old Testament, similarly to the Holy Qur'an, was written in biblical Hebrew, which is supposedly the language of Yahweh. Lastly, let's just list for a second the main reasons why Christianism diverges so much from Islam and Judaism. First of all, the Holy Trinity. God is not Unique but split in three entities, which are God, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God makes himself mortal and comes to Earth, sharing the same pain of humans. Essentially God makes himself vulnerable on the same level as common human beings. Human beings who will betray him and kill. God therefore dies as a supreme act of mercy and sacrifice to "save" humanity. This whole concept is completely unacceptable by both Islam and Judaism. Moreover, Catholicism and Orthodoxism in particular, heavily center their narrative around the figure of the Virgin Mary and the Saints. Essentially human beings, they are venerated like divinities. Some people see a similarity with the polytheistic tradition of the Greek and Roman world. In fact, some Saints have the same "powers". For example, Saint Valentine can be seen as the transposition of the Greek God Eros (Cupid for the Romans). Also, Christmas itself is essentially the transposition of the Sol Invictus festivity, when the Romans used to celebrate the winter solstice. Essentiallly, from a strict logical point of view, I would argue and say Catholicism is in fact a polytheistic religion. I have experienced this myself and saw how strong the veneration for Saints can be... where the Saint, essentially a human being, is considered to have the power to resolve big issues and therefore can be venerated in a similar way you venerate God himself.

I am an orthodox christian who really loves and respects the jews ❤ I think Rabbi Taylor is so respectful in his views and his way of presentation . This lecture is balanced even though i still believe that God is a Triune God. Answering our Muslim friends who are criticizing rabbi Taylor for saying that muslims claim that the jews copied from the quran I think what Rabbi Taylor meant is that muslims claim that the quran is the last , original, and the only reliable scripture While what we have in our hands ( as Christians and jews) is a distorted unreliable version of the holy scriptures .a book or books that we ruined and distorted ourselves A claim with NO evidence AT ALL .

Thank you, I am at 28:41 where you talked about the trinity, I call myself a Christain and have always had an issue with the three in one. I find it hard to understand why so many Christain has issues that Jesus was a Jew, and he died as a Jew for me to understand what we call the Old Testament I need to understand where it came from, it came from Jewish Bible. Sorry that I did not use the correct words in places. You are very informative and I think you. I am writing this in 2023 and not when you said it.

I was amazed to learn the similarities in the believes of Muslims and Jews. There is no doubt that we both worship the same god. The only thing is that Quran has explicitly mentioned why Jews were replaced with other faiths. But it’s good to know that there is another religion in the world that truly believes in one God.

Also brother , from a non muslim point of view , they can interpret , but we know for sure our Prophet ( May ALLAHS MERCY AND PEACE BE UPON HIM ) DID NOT suffer from epileptic episodes , but was overwhelmed we should not take it literally . I only meant that , Must focus on broader things , which is tauheed and oneness of ALLAH and humanity .
