New Market GB Abdul Kayum Talukdar Clarifies On Allegation Levied Against Him By NSCN (IM) & Briefed On His Kidnapping Case That Took Place On 29 September. Kayum Stated That While He Was Leaving The Meeting Some Unknown Miscreants Came & Shoved Him Inside The Car Forcefully. On The Allegation Levied Against Him By NSCN (IM), Kayum Stated That He Doesn't Have An Idea Of Land Owned By The Group At Khatkhati, Assam. He Further Stated That He Has Proper Documents To Prove That He Has Been Appointed By Nagaland Government As Gb Since 2008

This’s not discrimination or racism but appointment of a Non-Local as a Gaon Bura in our Nagaland state which levies lots of communal responsibilities and decision making power is not right. As far as my knowledge GB are nominated by Village Elders and appointed by the State Government. It started back in the British Government to mainly assist in administration. A very unfortunate incident. BUT I am appalled and saddened to see a non-Naga GB. GB's are the custodians of Naga customary laws. Therefore, I wonder what qualifies a non-Naga to be empowered to such position. Shame on the leaders for appointing non-Nagas as GB's whatever their good intentions are. #There should be a resolution by the govt. or CSO's to restrict non-Nagas as GB's.
