Body dysmorphia in men, supporting a partner with mental health challenges, and is having a faith crisis as an adult worse than having it as a kid?

I agree with Alex, emotions aren’t right or wrong, they just are. It’s what we do with them that’s right or wrong. We are an observer of our emotions, we can let them pass through us, or do something with them, and not all emotions are worth doing something with, which is the tricky part! Because they all feel so valid and real, it’s hard not to want to act on them all the time, it’s hard not to rationalize all of them. For me, journaling has been key to navigating my tough feelings that I instinctually want to act on. I start with what I’m feeling, why I think I’m feeling it, and logic my way through why I’m actually feeling it, and whether or not that feeling is worth doing anything with besides letting it pass through me and journaling about it. This has been especially helpful with my severe anxiety. Just a lil tip for anyone who struggles with impulsively acting on all their emotions. Also, on why men don’t get sexualized, it’s not just that woman are hotter (they are), but it’s also that women are far less likely to sexualize others regardless of the gender of the person they’re attracted to. Idk, just a thought I had when you guys were talking about the sexualization of men vs. women. Great pod as always, I’m a proud member of the Sad Panda Club. 🐼 Allah Akbar! 🎉

Speaking of AA sponsors, the number of times I've told women that I sponsor, "Well I hear you, and your feelings are valid, cuz they're your feelings. But they're also not reality. Like, they're wrong. They're not real. So feel the emotions for a minute, and then realize they're dumb and let them go. Because they're lying to you. And I love you. And also, I hear you, and I relate. This is how I know they're dumb and wrong." I cannot even count the number of times I've said things like that.

Definitely a great show. That's s very difficult conversation about the validation of feelings or emotions of a partner that you don't 💯 agree with. I remember dealing with it a lot when I was in a relationship with a partner of a different race and we would constantly have conversations about privilege etc and were our feelings real or were we under constant self doubt self Sabotage and victim complex
