What’s going on guys and welcome back to the channel! In 1969, a small theme park known as Lightwater Valley in the UK opened to the public for the first time. The park provided an inlet for fairly new companies to test products, concepts, and ideas. Of these new products came a first of a kind coaster that seemed to do well for the park. However, as time went on it began getting ridiculed for its roughness and criticized as a copy-cat coaster. But why was this and where is the coaster now? This is the past-present modern day story of Lightwater Valley’s Soopa Loopa. 😝🎢

The coaster isn’t really rough. I rode it a couple weeks ago and its really smooth for this age.

This is the kind of research / RCDB'ing that I appreciate in a roller coaster video. You've earned a subscription.

rode it at the American Adventure, one little feature it did have was a couple of rear facing seats near the rear of the train they made for an interesting ride

It's crazy to me that they can disassemble and reassemble the ride over and over...like you would think that one specialized piece gets lost and it's game over. Damn..just crazy to me that they have all these different engineering teams working on it.

This ride was so much fun! Had loads of rides on it when it was at American Adventure. The best bit was the face-to-face seating at the back of the train. The backwards-facing seats were highly sought-after.

I love the lesser known coasters, I grew up around a park called Americana in Monroe Ohio and as I got older introduced to my home park of kings island but til this day I still remember the coaster at Americana in the early 90s, if it weren’t for these stepping stone coasters many of us enthusiasts wouldn’t be around 🖤

And the track design looks like Schwarzkopf's Shock Wave at Six Flags Over Texas. Colossus may has the same kind of loops, but the rest of the track is very different (no surprise, Colossus was built as a traveling fairground coaster, while Shock Wave was designed as a park model...) However, Soquet have a reputation of "drawing inspiration ;-)" from Schwarzkopf coasters, there is (or used to be?) a fairground coaster made by them going by the name of "Le King", which is clearly inspired by Alpina Bahn. (Though in all honesty their quality is nowhere near to what we expect from Schwarzkopf coasters.)

I like how the two loops "kiss" each other. To bad it's rough! It looks otherwise to be a good coaster (maybe) back in the day. LOL! Tic Tac name was pretty funny!

Yeah, it's pretty fun one, for a long time it was the only coaster in Poland to go upside down, so it's kind of fan's favorite, even though Lech coaster stands just next to it

I don't remember it being called 'Gladiators', I remember it being called the 'Iron Wolf Twin Looper', before the 'Iron Wolf' part was dropped a few years later. Wolf was a Gladiator on the show, so that was the connection to the Gladiators.

I rode this 2 weeks ago and it was actually not bad. The loops are great and its not even rough. The transitions are a bit jerky and the restrains suck but it was still fun to ride.

Nice Video! Here's a suggestion: Could you do a video on the abrupt and sudden abandonment of my local park Barry's Amusements? It was a park that has been around since 1926 and has 2 coasters. Everyone in my country is furious about the its closure, Thanks.

You should do a video on Wood Coaster (yup, _real_ original.. lol) in Knight Valley in China. In my view, it's one of, if not _the,_ best wooden coasters ever made. If nothing else, it'd make for a great topic for a video.

This isn't the only soquet coaster that has been a rip off of a Schwartzkopf coaster. On the french fairs you also have the king. The knock off of the Alpina bahn of Oscar Burch. Just for your info.

You could maybe ask your audience if there are any Polish speaking people who could help you out with the names. Or show the names in the original language on screen instead of saying them out loud if you're worried about botching the pronunciations. Just a thought.
