Wish my GP was half as helpful as the ones shown here. All the docs I've encountered treat you like a hypochondriac or ask you what you want them to do about your issue, like i'm the doctor. Ofcourse theres the obligatory pills they are eager to throw at you while ushering you out the door as fast as possible.

They generally as you what you are wanting to be done sbout your problems, just so they get an idea of what to aim for when offering solutions. If theres multiple options to help, then they could offer anything at all, whereas it eould be easier if the patient helps guide them down the right path of options (this happened when i brought up my anxiety with my gp for example). But also yes, I completely get the feeling of disbelief and rushing when you tell a dr about your problems. If only the quality of doctors and gps were all consistently as helpful as the ones in this episode!

I think that lady doctor with the student was brilliant! Usually your given just a ten minute appointment (if your lucky) and yes, it’s helpful to write things you want to mention down before going, but you really can’t expect EVERY problem to get an answer in that time as a general rule…if you have a lot, then ask for a double appointment…. So I say well done to that doctor, who was on the ball, fast, thorough and efficient! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💐

I once when into a walk-in clinic, a GP on duty that day never heard of the name of my health condition and of specific medications. On another occasion, other GP told me he never heard of lavender (herb with calming properties for anxiety), and asked me what lavender is. And on third occasion, yet another GP left unattended my acute ear inflammation, when I asked to address it and give me some drops ointment for it. He said inflammation will pass by itself. I went to another GP and she was shocked it was not addressed, she said I could lose my hearing if not treated. I wonder if those GP are actually doctors …. or should be doctors

Mine normally says one bigger problem but then if we have a minor thing that isn't really worth making an separate appointment for we can get away with talking about that too. Her list was taking the piss a little though.

So they should, 2 problems max! Doctors only have 10 mins to try and treat you, by having a long list means they have to rush. It's not fair to everyone else waiting for an appointment as their's would probably be pushed back.

Yes. Western medicine virtually doesn’t address any prevention or early diagnosis. They wait until it becomes chronic and can no longer be treated, then they address symptoms usually with painkillers. Appalling state of medicine

Self referral for PT in UK!! 🥰 Omgosh We have to be half dead to get a PC to refer. Insurance has healthcare frontlines running scared here. US has the worst healthcare. :(
@GeorginasJourney

I’ve never heard of anyone self-referring for it here, so I don’t think it’s very common to get referred that way Most doctors will usually only let you discuss one or possibly two things in an appointment as well
