A League of Their Own is a TV Series which is aired 12th of August 2022 on Amazon Prime. It is the adaptation of the movie with the same name that is released 1992. The series basically about the story of women who were in WWII All-American professional women's baseball league.
A League of Their Own is created by lovely Abbi Jacobson and Will Graham. I don’t know much about Will Graham but I love Abbi Jacobson. She is queer and from interviews that I read, after she realized that she is queer (she is engaged with Jodi Balfour for about 2 years), she started to add good queer storylines in her creations like last season of Broad City.
Since I am fan on Abbi Jacobson, I was waiting for the series and after it aired, I devoured it in a day. Because, I really liked queer representations and relationships in the series. It is not like queer bait (I said that cause nowadays, movies or tv shows do that to get attention of queer community) and it is not also felt like it is written or directed by male gaze (I said that cause you know, male gaze sucks). Furthermore, TV series also includes the difficulties that black people and black women came across at that time. Also, good thing that some episodes are directed by Jamie Babbit who is the director of But, I'm a Cheerleader and at the end of the episode 7, we hear Funnel of Love song which is also in But, I'm a Cheerleader. Finally, Greta Gill character is played by lovely D'Arcy Carden who is Janet from The Good Place.
I think it is very important for LGBTQ+ community to see this kind of good representations of queer people and we should support and watch these tv series or movies to be able to see much more tv series or movies with this good quality.
