A Legacy of Lightning: The Finger Lakes Railway

The Finger Lakes Railway is a shortline railroad based out of Geneva, NY. In this video, we explore the railroad's eastern half from Geneva to Solvay, outside of Syracuse. From an ex-Southern Railway B23-7 running "Southern Style" in suburban Fairmount to GP38-2s leading heavy GS2s, this video covers the best of the Finger Lakes Railway.

Hey, at 0:13, that is true but they also run Mondays and thursdays in maine on "midcoast railservice" they run at 9:00 am and 4:30 pm. the locomotives are 2308 and 2310, both B23-7's and they haul cement loads

Nicely done :) Hoping you get a chance to do one for the NYS&W :) Just as unique & interesting the NYS&W plies the ex Lackawanna Line from Solvay down to Binghamton & Eris line east eventually to New Jersey. Mountains, Rivers, back country track is their unique feature along with all EMD power )

fun fact: martisco is technically in marcellus, hence the name "martisco". in fact, there was an old railroad that was called martisco! i took a trip down there once to visit a few people, and found that station. ton of cool stuff inside.

There used to be two tracks crossing Bridge St. They ripped out as part of the State Fair-Bridge Street reconstruction project. It was mostly for politics.

I think that the NYC lightning stripe paint job comes from the early 1950s. Then they got cheap and painted the engines all black.

Actually it's Central New York and Finger Lakes Region....Western New York starts in Rochester to Buffalo.

I still think that a one man crew, or, the conductor chasing the train in a vehicle, is absolutely stupid!! Yes, I'm old school and we ran with a 2 man crew always. Oh well...rant over.
