Hey, I'm Rollie Williams (I host 'Your Average Pool Player' with Kamui Brand), and I'm trying to get good at pool. It turns out, it's not as easy as I was hoping, so I'm taking lessons from professionals and experts across the country depending on who will take me.
The 4th installment of From Average To Good features professional pool player Emily Duddy. She's a house pro at Amsterdam Billiards in New York, and she teaches me about stance, keeping a level cue, and pattern play. It's an edifying experience for me, and I hope you enjoy it too. If you have any questions or comments or whatever please leave them below or don't because you've got your own life and things going on. I'm not here to judge. I'll never get as good as the likes of Efren Reyes, Niels Feijen, Willie Mosconi, or Thorsten Hohmann, but I might be able to stop missing the 9-ball once in a while.

I used to have bad impression of Emily from watching her matches. But watching this video how she explains things to Rollie and how she expresses her thoughts and skills on the table, I feel that she is very friendly and genuine, and also very skilled. Much respect.

Thank you for your nice comment Long Vu! I really appreciate you taking the time to write it & I’m glad you got to see another side of my game. It can be tricky for people to get to know players just from a handful of online matches, when we have played thousands. I loved making this video with Rollie & hope to make more of them in the future!

YES! It's great to hear a PRO validate the fact that I like to walk the table after I break or first time up, and map out a basic plan all the way to the 9 ball. Then drop back to focusing on next 3, then focus on the shot you're on. Terrific video, Rollie!

Yeh, looks like Ronnie. Only difference is Ronnie doesn’t hold cue level with the table as taught in this video. Ronnie maintains a slope in his cue plane and drops his elbow on the shot to get through the white ball more than any other player. If he cued level, he would hit the table rail with the shaft of his cue during the elbow drop.

Thank you for doing this series I think it is going to help me a lot. From the age of 16 when I started driving I played everyday 8 to 12 hours a day at our local bowling center except Christmas day for 8 years. I read every book i could get my hands on and every VCR tape I could get about pool. I got really good. I got a job, at 27 that didn't allow me to play as much, but I didn't really need to at that point. Then I got married 5 days before my 29th birthday and I didnt want to be a competitive pool player anymore I wanted to be a husband and a Dad. I started playing again competing in tournaments and at 45 which was may of 2019. I weigh a lot more and see a lot less. I had to change my stance because of my size, which really affected my play style thank you for doing this video series Rollie.
