We didn’t clean our buck barn last year and we’re paying for it this year. Sure this part only took us like two hours, but this is still about 75% of the barn to go. It was a good reminder that regular upkeep saves this time down the road.

Procrastination is something that affects us all, whether it's at work, school, or in our daily lives. It can lead to a buildup of tasks that seem overwhelming, making it difficult to know where to start. In this video, we tackle a project that has been long overdue: cleaning out our goat barn. This is a true lesson in procrastination and how overcoming it can lead to a more organized and functional space.
Our goat barn had become cluttered with feed, hay, tools, and other miscellaneous items over the winter months. The mud and snow made it challenging to keep the area clean, leading to a chaotic and disorganized space. But we knew that it was time to take action and transform the barn into a more efficient environment for our goats and ourselves.
The first step was cleaning out the buck section of the barn. This area had not been cleaned in over a year, resulting in a significant buildup of waste and debris. It was a tough job, but with some determination and teamwork, we managed to clear it out. Although we didn't film this part of the process, we can assure you it was a labor-intensive task that needed to be done.
Next, we moved on to the second part of the buck barn, where we store all the feed, hay, tools, and maintenance supplies. Over the winter, this area had also become a mess. The constant movement of items in and out of the barn through the mud and snow made it impossible to keep it tidy. But with the arrival of spring, it was the perfect time to give this area a thorough cleaning.
During the cleanup, we realized the importance of maintaining this space regularly. By letting the mess accumulate, we made the task much more daunting than it needed to be. This served as a valuable lesson in the consequences of procrastination and the benefits of staying on top of our chores.
One of the challenges we faced was deciding what to do with the extra trash cans that were no longer in use. Instead of dismantling the storage area, we found a practical solution by storing the empty cans under the existing structure. This allowed us to maximize our storage space without unnecessary demolition.
As we continued to clean, we noticed how much the floor level had risen due to the accumulation of hay, dirt, and other debris. This made us realize the importance of regular maintenance to prevent such buildup. By addressing these issues promptly, we can avoid spending an entire day cleaning and instead maintain a tidy and functional barn.
In addition to cleaning the barn, we also repurposed the waste and debris by using it to fill low spots in the yard. This not only helped with erosion control but also utilized the natural resources we had on hand.
We also took the opportunity to grade the back entrance of the buck barn to prevent water from rushing in during heavy rains. By redirecting the water flow, we aimed to protect the barn from potential damage and maintain the integrity of the surrounding area.
After approximately two hours of work, including a well-deserved sweet tea break, we managed to clean and organize the barn significantly. It was a rewarding experience to see the transformation and know that our efforts had made a positive impact on our farm.
In conclusion, this project served as a powerful reminder of the importance of overcoming procrastination. By taking action and tackling tasks head-on, we can create a more organized and functional environment. We hope this video inspires you to take on your own projects and conquer procrastination in your life.
