I’ve struggled with this topic for ages, but you explained it so well that I understood everything after this video. Thank you so much!

How did you get 0.00500moles for NaOH from 50cm^3 and 0.100M ?

Change cm^3 into dm^3 then times the moles by the volume

Hi, this may sound silly but at 21:19 how do you get 0.01 moles of ch3cooh and 0.005 moles of naoh?

what about pKa values? is it simply just the lower the Pka value the stronger the acid?

why are you using the number of moles of ethanoic acid instead of the concentration of the acid for the Ka equation?

Hi there, I know this is an old video but I thought when you add OH- to a buffer the OH- reacts with the H+ rather than HA to produce water, is this not correct? Please advise
@dunkley217

It can react with either, but there are many orders of magnitude more HA than H+, so it is more useful to consider this. If you were to consider it reacting with the H+, only a small amount would react and then the H+ would run out. To replace the H+, more HA would dissociate. The outcome would be that the amount of HA would reduce by the same as the amount of OH- that was introduced. In short, just react the OH- with the HA 🤣

@@dunkley217 haha thanks alot!! Its just because my teacher taught us to react the OH- with the H+ to form water but i do think ur explanation works alot better

Do you have to state your assumptions that you make when doing weak acid calculations? Thank you :)
