Magandiya - Part 3
What causes someone to be an enemy of Buddhism?
What motivates someone to embark on a life of revenge?
Wat San Fran is proud to present stories taken from the Jatakas, Dhammapada, and Buddhist history. These stories often use past rebirth stories (Jatakas) to reveal the connection between past and present, and illustrate the relationship between cause and effect.
Check out the playlist #AnimatedBuddhistStories by Wat San Fran to explore the complete series.

I know this story from Cambodian monks, they also explained to me that Magandiya’s punishment in hell was being her flesh being roasted and fed to her because she was so infatuated with her beauty.

Jealousy and revenge leads your life in to very low stage and it is a very strong reason to rebirth u as a very low creature such as crocodile

This was a good Jataka story. The biggest thing is it's actually not a past life recollection but what happened at the time of Buddha.

Although Magandiya had created such a terrible karma, she was born blessed in that life. To be the daughter of 2 non returners. To be blessed with great beauty. But why could her patents not be able to help her? After all, she had enough good karma to be born their daughter. Thank you for these great tales. I love them.

It's all personal choices. A person, even though he/she's born in a pious family, it's still his/her choice to walk in the path of evil or good. No one can sway their choices, even parents.

>she was born blessed in that life Sir, that is your ego speaking. To be born blessed is not that you have good parents, great beauty, everybody loves you, a very powerful husband, but it is only the personality. A person who is starving to death is blessed if he is not attached to his body. But a rich and powerful person is not blessed if he has to take care of his family's reputation, take care of people's expectations and always trying to improve his physical conditions and try to have more pleasures. He can be considered "cursed". These are just examples, but I think the poor can be much more "blessed" if they just got the right teaching. They already don't have much to be attached to. But whereas people like us who have many things in life, even though we are watching the video, we likely won't incorporate the teachings in our life. Are the rich blessed

The moral of the story is to not steal happiness from future you and that there is no action that doesn't have a result.

this is similar to Christianity Christ too had followers who were mocked by the Romans and were constantly tested and betrayed. many of disciples had gruesome deaths and suffered but a main difference is that the sins/karma would all be given to Christ he alone suffers for our misdeeds
