One of the most underrated aspects of AC/DC is the amazing rhythm guitar playing by Angus' brother Malcolm (RIP). He literally drives the rhythm of most of their songs.

Bon had a charisma and cheekiness that just oozed from his performances. He was a rock God and one of my favourite frontmen. His voice is like two alley cats fighting...pure gold! I think ACDC were at their peak right before Bon died unfortunately.

Almost all their stuff with Bon was high energy. They were pure energetic rock and roll, which was why all the punks liked them as well as the rockers. Bon’s lyrics could be smutty, but he had a real turn of phrase, and a very cheeky sense of humour. He could also be a bit of a street poet. It’s a Long Way to the Top, Downpayment Blues and Night Prowler are all good examples of his lyrical style. Brian was never much of a lyricist, and the Young brothers wrote all the lyrics from about 3 albums after Brian joined. Brian has the higher range, Bon had more of the element of danger. Bon was the KING!! Full Stop!!!!! The ultimate street poet!!!! Tough hard livin' man!!! I saw him with AC/DC when I was 12 years old at a very small theatre. It was a game changer!!!!! Brian Johnson is a great screamer but Bon is an amazing VOCALIST!! HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!!

Not all AC/DC songs are this high energy. To slow things down a bit listen to Ride On off of the Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap album in 1976 originally release only in Europe and Australia. Then later in 1980 it was released in the US. I saw them at the Polaris Amphitheatre in Columbus, Ohio in 1996. Rosie onstage is definitely a site to behold. Angus did a guitar solo from a lift crane in which he stripped down to his Union Jack underwear. It was the Ball Breaker World Tour and to start the show Angus came swinging onto stage riding a wrecking ball. Forget about Miley, Angus did it first. 😁

Their life performance in River Plate there was a giant blowup doll of rosie standing up on the back of the stage tapping her foot to the beat of the music. It was incredible how they were able to do that.

The band's record company asked Bon Scott to change the number reference right before the high-energy phase begins. They thought it was a phone number but Bon explained that it was simply her measurements (or a close proximity).

George Thorogood (and the Destroyers) did 'Bad to the bone'... but that came out in 1982. 'Whole lotta Rosie' came out in 1977... initially, it wasn't a single (per se) but the live version in 1978 from the AC/DC live album "If you want blood - You've got it" made it a fan fave. Originally, Bon Scott wrote the song 'Dirty eyes' and sang a demo version that was recorded in 1976 w/ AC/DC... The story was that AC/DC did a show in Tasmania in their early days, and Bon Scott went to the bars after the concert... He met a stripper there, who was an overweight woman and she grabbed his arm and took him to bed... Bon was so impressed w/ her skills in the sack that he re-wrote the same track as 'Whole lotta Rosie' for their 1977 album 'Let there be rock'... Apparently a year later, AC/DC went back to Tasmania and Bon went looking for her - he was disappointed to find out that she had lost a lot of weight 🤣 Brian Johnson sang 'Whole lotta Rosie' at his audition in 1980 and has performed it in concert since. Some of AC/DC's 80's albums were not as popular, but had some of their most aggressive songs - 'Flick of the switch' (1983) and 'Fly on the wall' (1985)... Songs like - 'Shake your foundations' ... 'Let There Be Rock' the No1 AC/DC album, Go Down and Overdose are two of the best, while Bad Boy Boogie, Let There be Rock and Whole Lotta Rosie are AC/DC classics. The best version of 'Rosie' is without doubt the live version on the 'If You Want Blood' Album. Probably the song most responsible for the arthritis in my neck 40+yrs on.

Let There Be Rock = one of the top 3 albums of all time IMO. The whole album is full of Angus guitar-on-stun lead solo work. The heaviest AC/DC album ... and therefore their best!

I used to have a VHS tape (official release) of this tour. It has been a long time since I last saw it (not sure I even have it anymore), but during one song, Angus Young is running around, headbanging, and doing his high energy two step dancing / running around the stage and then a camera shot shows him back stage, STILL PLAYING THE SONG, while someone holds a mask up to him to give him OXYGEN! Then he takes back off to the races again!

1980. Bon Scott died on the same day as my dad. February 11, 1980. Brian Johnson came along a few months later. Bon Scott was their 2nd singer (Dave Evans was there the first year) and like Malcolm Angus,and Cliff Williams (bass) he was born in Scotland and moved to Australia as a kid after a few harsh Scottish winters. Bon took them from obscurity to the top of the mountain by 1979 after relentless Aussie and English touring. Their tour in the US in 1977 didn't garner much but word of mouth advertising and it was 1979s Highway to Hell that caused the US to release 3 of their previous albums that same year when they were hot. Brian is from Newcastle England, and has done perfectly well taking over for the beloved Bon.

Angus has always been a skilled guitar player because he simply has an incredible work ethic. Even decades into their run, he was getting up early to work on new riffs.

The band really went into the studio with something to prove. George Young (brother of Angus and Malcom) produced the record. At one point in the studio recording, an amplifier overheated, but George urged the band to keep playing.

A lot of Bon Scott songs were written with tongue in cheek. I’m aging myself but in high school I saw AC/DC with Mr Scott, they were the act at a “Day on the Green” concert in Oakland. The other bands that day after AC/DC were Van Halen. , Pat Travers Band , Foreigner and Aerosmith. Fairly decent day of music 🤣

I love Brian Johnson and I think he does a great job on songs from the Bon era. That said I definitely prefer listening to Bon on his songs. He is very fun to watch. Guitarist Angus Young once told a reporter who said all 11 of their albums sound the same. Angus replied no, we have made 12 albums that sound the same 😂 His brother Malcolm when asked would reply (of course they do, it’s the same band) lol

My favorite AC/DC song with Bon Scott is Love Hungry Man from my favorite album of theirs Highway to Hell.

the boys were on fire recording this album literally, one of the amps caught fire and they kept playing according to folklore.. I can understand Bon's lyrics far better than Brian's and after all he wrote the early stuff. in short rosie got hold of Bon one night and had her way with him. Angus said they went in the room and all they could see were Bon's arms coming out from under the woman. he always wrote about his life events.

Bar & Barbells The Bad to the Bone riff is a typical blues prograssion( used counltess times) Thorogood, ACDC, Zeppelin, Stones, Bob Seger, ZZ Top, Bad Co and majorty of artists you've reacted to are all heavily influenced by esrly black blues ( R&B, Soul & Funk). 1980 i was 12🤗 This song and the album it's on are ACDC at their finest, imo. The commercial success started with this album. That was the beginning of the end of my love affair with them. Instead, I went back in time to the stuff I was too young to listen to. Bon Scott = Rockstar! LET THERE BE ROCK, the title track from this epic album is hard like this one. Even better, imo.

Hahaha! Heard this song 100s of times and I don't believe I have ever heard the studio version. At least not in a very long time. Some bands must be listened to live! AC/DC is one of them. This at river plate is legendary. There are some great Bon live on youtube also.

Brian Johnson joined AC/DC in 1980. I didn't buy the album 'cause there was no way to replace Bon Scott.🙄 A friend of mine came by with the album and convinced me to listen to just one song just to see what it was like.🤔 He put on "Back in Black" then we listened to the whole album twice!😂 I went to Tower Records the very next day and got the album!🤗❤️✌️

The guitar tone is sick on this track. I feel many of the songs on the album are dialed down, compared to how they were done live at the time. Even the title track has a tamer production value in terms of raw distortion, but in Rosie they go all out and it ends the album in a great way.

You should react to "It's a long way to the top" with Bon Scott singing, he'll blow you away with pipes and his voice.

Their best live show to watch is Paris on the Highway to Hell tour December 1979. It does have outtakes through it though. It is also called Let There Be Rock. Highway to Hell was the album to where they started getting more into their classic sound, and then Back in Black cemented the sound that was to be on every album after that.

"AC/DC - Beating Around the Bush" is the highest energy they ever got. Its like if you took the speed of Motörhead and smashed it into ACDC riffing. Fast paced, and a riff fest for sure.
