Love watching you and your sweet family in the garden. I have never seen a harder worker who is so willing to show her vulnerability. Most of all, your faith is so apparent in all you do.

Take your book to the local office supple store like Staples, Office Depot, etc. and have them put a different binding on it. It can be the plastic type binding or the metal ring binding. That way you don't have to buy a new book. Or if you know someone who has a binding machine, they can rebind it for you so it will lay flat. When I worked at Staples many years ago I would rebind many books for people so they would lay flat.

You can use non-toxic deterrents against these beetles. For example, spreading diatomaceous earth on the ground around plants that will attract them can kill them off as they emerge from the ground after pupating.

Use a hose end garden sprayer. Just a little soap 🧼 in the tank of the sprayer mixed with water. It will cover the ground and the entire plant 🌱, and get rid of the bugs 🐛

Isn't it humbling to know our prayers are heard and answered. Not always in the way we wanted them to be like the obnoxious bug just gone, but in His way. Having a frog show up to eat them and having all the bugs move to one type of plant where it was isolated enough for you to deal with it and control them finally. Heavenly Father is so aware of us, He always hears our prayers. Thank you for this experience you shared.

Several years ago I decided to grow winter squash for the first time. I knew nothing about the pests that come along with them and was so looking forward to an abundant crop that would last us all winter. It didnt take long for this pretty blue and orange moth to make its way to our garden and not long after that to see our beautiful thriving squash plants wilt. I quickly figured out what was killing or squash..squash vine borers. I did all that I could to save my squash..I shed tears daily and prayed while in the garden for a miracle. The moths were relentless but God kept telling me to trust Him. Despite my plants looking the stem had been shredded from the ground to the end of the vine and wilting daily from the damage, we harvested 35 of the most beautiful winter squash from 3 plants, we had more than enough to share. I have never had such a large harvest from so few plants since that summer. We get a nice harvest each year now by using vine borer resistant squash but I feel like God showed me that in my desperation when hope is lost He will do miracles above and beyond what I could ever hope for and that experience was worth the tears as it is a something I have leaned on many times since.

My 7-year-old enjoys watching your videos with me because he helps me in our garden. When you talked about all the blister beetles being grouped together, he said "Wow, Mom! God helped her get rid of all their blister beetles so they could still grow food!" So awesome when you get to see such tangible & immediate answer to prayer. Praise the Lord! We love watching your videos and are hoping to try out that pickle recipe. (We still haven't found a pickle recipe that we like alot) Thanks so much for letting us follow along in all the ups & downs of your homesteading.

What I really liked here was your husband coming together with you to ask the Lord for help. We are God's children, and I know as a father I never want to see my children hurt, looks like he heard you guys and answered your request :) Mathew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns- and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? This isn't to say you shouldn't grow your own food lol. It just highlights how much we mean to the Lord. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Sometimes in the midst of trying to homestead we need to hear of these good things. That we can reach out to our Father for help. We also have had a very tough homestead week, we lost a 1 day old turkey poult to a momma hen who had babies with her, she attacked and mortally wounded it. I had to put it down. Then yesterday we lost one our our baby piglets who was not even 24 hours old because the first time momma crushed it. So this week I have been asking myself what I was thinking imagining I could do this. BUT then I saw this, THIS right here, and you gave me the will to keep going. To know the Father is watching, and going through the difficulties with us. He may not deliver us from them completely, but He will give us a reprieve to keep going and get through to the good times. We don't garden on the scale you do but we have a pretty good size area. Years ago, because I recycle what I can, my husband brought home from his work 10 truck bed liners as his company was trading in their pickups for new and them truck deal ship did not want to mess with them. We put them two together to make very long raised beds and are still using them today. We also were given a bunch of those large containers is cages (don't know what they are called) and cut them in half to make smaller raised beds. These found things have helped us tremendously in our garden and we have few weeds in our beds now. I just mow and weed eat around these beds . we have also kept a lot of stuff from landfills and I still look for ways to recycle as much as I can. Love to watch channels like yours to help give me inspiration. Thank you!

You are such a trooper. Gardening is overwhelming at times. I just have one acre and I can hardly keep up with the weeds, the lawn care and the canning. And the inside of the house is a full time job in itself with the painting and fixing up. And I am alone…hahaha 🙃 But I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s the most satisfying lifestyle ever. You are doing very well. 💚

I realize that you posted this a while back but this is a great example of why to keep Ducks for eggs. You could have turned the ducks loose in the garden. They would have cleaned that mess up with minimal damage to plants. Just to be honest, I do not currently have ducks but I do plan to have them for the eggs and pest control. Good luck!

I love your channel. Im finally starting my homesteading journey a little at a time, but Ive been watching your channel for about a year now. I have learned so much from you!! I catch myself watching for hours, getting lost in the channel! I have always preferred farm life and have spent many years of my childhood farming but now as an adult and first time home owner, I get to create the life I always envisioned for myself. Nice to see the kids playing an active role

In my garden here in S. C., it’s been a constant battle with Japanese beetles on my pole beans. I’m spraying soap, neem oil, and handpicking them off 3 times a day. I’ve never seen them this bad before. God Bless.

It's nice to see how much your husband enjoys working the food for his family . It was a horrible moment if the bug's we sometimes just have to spray and use the cleaner to get it all off then to not eat at all. And all your pickles wow there stacking up we eat so much of them and blow threw zucchini relish as a topping on hamburger, hot dog, and with mayo/ketchup mix with relish a fry dip. Yum

My grandmother always pushed down in the tops of pickles, the whole dill bloom. It was beautiful in the jars. *Awee I started to cry when you did. I know how hard this is! I do! GOD watches over you and your family. We use Neem Oil and Captain Jacks Dead Bug Brew. I mix it up with water and dish soap and keep spraying it as soon as I see the bugs. I am careful to release Ladybugs and Praying Mantis plus fly predators all season. Thank goodness for the little frog, I am sure he is happy and has a full belly.

God bless your honesty with your frustration. I had something similar with the squash bug. I could be off about this but I think the drought makes the bugs more desperate. just my gut.

I am envious of the space you have, I do as much as I can on my small property but know how much work it must be for you!!! Well done. I wanted to say something about the importance of ecological balance. You see what one frog can do. Imagine, lots of frogs and snakes controlling slugs,insects and rodents (build pond and hibernaculum for snakes). There are also beneficial insects (predators, parasitoids and pollinators) that can help stabilize destructive insects. Birds will eat insects and larva, they did a great job this year controlling Japanese Beetle, Tomato Hornworm and Cabbage White larva in my garden. In order for this to work, planting native plants is essential. There is a terrific KZfaq video that got me started called Rewilding the veg garden. It’ll take some work but save you so much in the long run. Wishing you all the best on your journey.

I can really feel your pain about the blister beetles! 🙈 I’m glad you have gotten some relief from them. A good friend of mine gave me a tip for managing these guys! Picking them off always helps. Look on the underside of leaves and if you see small orange eggs, squish them too. Then you can use: 1 tbsp dawn dish soap 1 tbsp vinegar 1 tbsp vegetable oil And 4 litres of water Mix and spray your plants with this solution and it will make it difficult for them to lay their eggs and thus help manage the population. A hack that works for me with just about any bug or slug is to add to a half a gallon of water: 1 to 2 teaspoons of dish soap. 1 to 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil. 3 SPOONS (or more) of the hottest chillie pepper sauce you can find. The soap and oil helps it stick to the plant. Spray the liquid on the top and bottom of the leaves (they hide there...don't miss the underside of the leaves) including stems, once a day until the bugs are gone. They can't handle the sting of the hot sauce. Play with the ratios according to the size of your garden. Take care 😁

Be careful around blister beetles! The ones we have here in northern Arizona do cause painful blisters! The blisters can spread if you pop them and the fluid inside gets elsewhere. I have noticed that in years past that they seem to come in on the wind before a storm. They will destroy beets ad anything else that has new, tender leaves. I'd just spray the poatoes and anything that is close to them, with soapy water. Good Luck!

I used dawn dish soap in a sprayer fill with water add say 2 tbsp dawn and keep sparying the blooms are gone so its ok it don't kill the lady bugs they go away!! trick i learned this year!

Maybe the frog/toad rounded all the beetles up for you 🤣 trust me I KNOW how frustrating the beetles are. I declared war on them two days ago. I rubbed oall the aggs off the backs of my potatoes, dropped the adults into soapy water. Thank you Dawn!!!! And neem oiled the plants. Next morning I was armed for the same process. The beetles were gone. They destroyed one small potato patch. Yesterday I saw a few on the tomatillos but treated them the same with Dawn soapy water and rubbed off the eggs. So today, no bugs!!! But Im not letting my guard down bc I have more potatoes to save that were planted later. Prayers coming your way. 😉

Hi...first time viewer.....I saw a video of reusing sunflower stalks as stakes...kinda "grow your own" tall stakes....I am going to try this...When you harvest the flowers...deleaf the stalks and save them as stakes for obelisks, supports, etc. Ty for sharing your miracle...I like that it began with prayer and faith. : ) Looking forward to your next video. What a wonderful testimony. God says you can not do it alone. Ask Him for help and he will. My wife and I enjoy watching. Also my wife puts her jars in the oven to sterilise the jars

One idea to think about : A battery powered handheld hopefully extendible- so that you don’t bend over too much - A little vacuum or sucker to get all those Beatles and other bugs? And near the bottom part of the battery powered vacuum or whatever you use a Magnifier so that you can see closely your plants without having to bend over and stuff :)
