I've not tried this one, sound quite nice. But I just got myself a bottle of The Tullibardine The Murray 2008 Thre Port Cask Finish (white, ruby and tawney) Great whisky with a nice price tag, 790 Swedish krona (~euro 70)

Great / interesting review Mr G 👍 I recently bought Tull Murray cask strength , which initially I didn’t care for too much , but revisited it , added more water this time to calm it and it’s pretty good and I may well have a crack at Double wood . PS Fettercairn 16 No 2 ..I love it , very good , lots going on probably still prefer No 1 ( just ) but both really nice 👍🥃🥃

I have the 228 Burgundy finish and the 500 Sherry finish, paid $30 each. 228 is red apples and cinnamon but is hotter on the back of the palate than you’d expect from an 86 proofer. The 500 is more balanced with a long finish and is definitely the better of the two. They’re more middle of the road and I don’t regret buying either of them but I probably won’t buy again.

I've had one of The Murray cask strength expressions and it was pretty. The only other Tullibardine I've had was the Sovereign, which is fairly low-level but I found it quite enjoyable. Cheers G.

I never had this Double Wood, but the standard bourbon-matured "The Murray" 2004 (12yo) states that it's unchillfiltered; not sure about the colour.

Tullibatdine ( I think the emphasis is on “bard“) is a gem of a distillery. I've gotten curious over them with the old 21 yo, which was available for 50€ 2 years ago, would you believe it! The Murray Marsala was a banger! and the recently launched 15yo is very solid and affordable!

I bought 225 Sauterness cask after recommendation last year and it was nice replacement for Glencadam for me. Have read good things about the Murray and put it on the future shopping list. So its nice surprise to hear from you about new release. 😁🥃🤟 wee post scriptum after review. Its too woody?! So i mix it with water 50/50 make it Single Wood and will be perfect. Just joking 😋

I'm guessing they use first-fill bourbon casks based on the notes you described and the color (unless it's just e150). Sounds good! *Big Woody Wood*

The standard 15 has no colour and is not chillfiltered even att 43% so it would be weird if this one is!

I wonder, have you tried the 2008-2021 Bourbon version. I heard both good and bad about it.

In case you want to pronounce it as they would at Tullibardine, it's: Tull-eh-bar-din You might know this already so apologies if I'm being 'that guy' 😁 Doesn't seem to be a brand that captures the imagination like some others but I think they have some good stuff, well worth trying to things up.
