actually with each lap there would be 4 turns, so technically a 500 lap race would have a total of 2000 turns, but even then theres more than that due to pit stops. ☝️🤓

Asking is nice but slamming on the brake (brake check) is just ahole. As long as people don't hit you than there shouldn't be anything "unsafe" about it. The guy slame on the brake is creating and causing the accident, not the guy driving close and not touching.

You dont know what exactly is happening to the driver, he may want to lower the speed just to not waste much gas, maybe he is about to do a turn so he has to lower the speed something unexpected might happen which would cause him to lower the speed and there you have an accident and it would be your fault, specially in this case since you cant see what's i front of you because the other car completely blocks your vision of the road

I was in an engineering program in high school, and there was a question asked about why you need to continue to make trim adjustments mid-flight in order to maintain level flight in an aircraft. I remember other people being kinda stumped by the question, but I chimed in positing that the balance of the plane changes as you burn off fuel, which is a concept I learned from racing and applied to aviation. That was the right answer, and I felt so proud of being able to answer a technical question based on personal knowledge.

I've drafted behind semis before and it was incredible. Once you get within 8-12 feet or so you're golden. Barely have to touch the throttle to keep it going. That was with an old car that didn't have a fuel mileage guage but I suspected if I normally got 30 (4 cylinder accord) that I was getting 45 or so while drafting. It's like you're being pulled by the truck. Don't do it with a new car though because you're likely to get sandblasted with rock chips.

Back in the seventies when CB's were a thing I asked a trucker (over the radio) I was riding behind if I could try drafting him and he agreed. I was able to almost completely take my foot off the gas as I got right in behind him. I'm 68 now and remember that like it happened last week. I had a small Honda CRF250L dual sport dirt bike that you had to hold the throttle all the way open to maintain speed against the wind on the highway. Got behind a big rig and you can FEEL it suck you in. Only had to hold about 5% throttle to stay in his wake. I was only doing it because the temperature was falling and my hands were at risk of suffering frostbite from the windchill.

When you're driving and some object hits your hood and it doesn't bounce off, it stays sticked because the wind you're creating from travelling through air pushes the object onto the hood. When you closely follow a.k.a. tailgate another vehicle in front of you, it blocks the wind from hitting your car while their car is pushing through wind which means that the air resistance (which is proportional to surface area and density) you face is noticeably reduced and it also creates a smooth air flow so you're able to go faster while using the same amount of energy and the object falls off (reducing total mass) and you can overtake. :)

@@Jarandjar Rally is good. For me it's all about the race type's ability to convey speed/ danger to the audience. NASCAR is the fastest form of racing (Indy also races the oval track so it may technically be) so as a guy who likes cars I prefer NASCAR for the sheer dangerous speed involved, but I like motorcycles/ trucks, for the danger present in jumps and packs of riders making tight corners. Rally for the same reason: potential danger. Obviously F1 racing is my least favorite because due to their size, the cars seem to be moving more slowly and they actually alrrady are moving more slowly in reality, due to the excessive corners present on the tracks, so it's like watching two boeing 747's "race" to land on a runway. A great visual representation of wanting 'clean air' to cool the engine or increase aerodynamics as following closely gives the vehicle less air.

I used to do this too behind Semis, until I saw the force of a trailer tire blowout. So explosive that they typically bend the steel rear bumpers backwards 90 degrees. There are pictures of people's cars with shreds of tire embedded in the front.

That shit is SO illegal, and as a trucker, I'll slow down gradually 10-20 mph to motivate you to pass me, because I can't see you back there! Or hop in the left lane, brake when no one is there, and have you pass me in the right lane. Screw all of you who practice unsafe driving habits.

@Keegan Kraemer I hear you. The blowouts I was talking about were my own, I started trucking 3 years ago. Honestly, people tailgating me are the least of my worries compared to all the other stupid antics I see them pull, but I'm also governed at 105 kmph and the cabs we're given are weak as piss, so people pass me all day pretty easily.

You should totally sit on the blind spot of a vehicle whose braking distance is more than twice the length of your own car. Let's hope your car comes with teleportation as an optional because you're not dodging it if the car in front brakes hard.

I hear you. This kind of shit makes me so upset and disappointed in the human race. Very little regard for the lives and safety of others around them. Some of that is from sheer ignorance and illusions of safety. Other times they are just aggressive drivers and deserve license suspension and jail time.

I have found that a version of side drafting works on the interstate, obviously you don’t want to get as close as nascar does, just close enough to get into that pocket of air that pulls you up and by the car next to you
@kebobs3727
@kebobs3727 Жыл бұрын
Side drafting doesn't speed you up in any way, it just slows the other car down by dumping air off your nose onto their spoiler. So it won't speed you up and won't slow down 99% of cars on the road
