Oh you poor thing fawn. It sounds dreadful. So sorry about Danny. I’ve been feeling very low because my almost 16 year old dog has had a very upset stomach all over Christmas. He also has a bladder tumour. He’s just not properly picking up, and im afraid im going to lose him. I would so love to have another dog when I sadly lose him but don’t think I could bear any more. I’ve lost a husband, followed by two gorgeous dogs and now my last little friend before too much longer I think. It breaks away a piece of your heart every time. I feel I can’t take any more. Wishing you the best fawn and praying it’s Bert’s only ever fit. 🤞

My New Year plans included a new kitchen and a new dentist. But I live in Knowsley and we have one of the highest Omicron variant infection rates in the country. Very few people are out walking, though cars are still keeping busy. We're all back isolating, if we have any sense, that is. So my resolutions are on hold. I'm also in dire need of a hair-cut and a visit from a chiropodist - the list is endless but it's all on hold. My good news is I just have one very shy little cat to deal with. Stevie is 10 years old this month and fit as a flea, thank goodness. Hope you have avoided the Virus, stay well, stay strong. xxx

Making the decision for Danny is dreadful, but when you have animals it’s part of it when you love them. It’s so hard but you know when the time is right for them even when you don’t want to let them go. I hope Bert’s epileptic fit is a one off for him and you. My thoughts are with you for Danny x

Gosh, you've got a lot going on at the moment Fawn! I'm sorry to hear about Danny, I know you'll always put his welfare first.❤ My wonderful old weimaraner, Tilly, also had epilepsy and I totally empathise with how terrifying it is when they have a fit. However, I just clung onto my vet's advice that it looks much worse than it actually is, but it still left me shaken every time it happened. I used to keep the lights low and just gently reassure her afterwards, as it can sometimes take a while for them to fully be 'with it' again. I hope this is just a one off for Bert, he really is such a lovely boy.xx

My cat Jasper used to have fits. He lived till he was 17. There was no medication that the vet could prescribe for him, but he just carried on and he lived a long and happy life. I’m sure Bert will be fine, too. I’m so sorry about Danny. It’s always very difficult at the end.

Oh dear Fawn you sound as if you're really going through it at the moment. Our animals are such a huge part of our heart and just like family members really. I have a ginger Tom who drives me mad in the middle of the night but I love him dearly. Hope you begin to feel a bit better. X

So sorry it’s been so tough, it’s all happened at once hasn’t it! My first dog was epileptic, he didn’t have fits often and was fine most of the time. I’m sure Bert will be ok, take a breathe or a Gin! Xx

Oh Fawn, what a whole heap of 💩… so sorry. With Aurora, maybe try tall willow whisps attached to the fence to make it taller - we did that with a horse who jumped and it worked (& cheaper than 8ft fencing!!) As for Danny, it’s the hardest but also the kindest decision animal owners have to make. Go easy on yourself x

Oh gracious, Fawn! Bless you all. As much as I would love a pet to cuddle and nurture I really don’t think I could deal with the sadnesses that come along with it any more. Hope things pan out, however they need to, and you get some closure and feel more settled. Hopefully you will get better in yourself, hard to know what’s what but wise to test just in case. Take care, take your time with the vids, you don’t need that to add to your stresses!

Dear Fawn. What a start to the new year !!!!. So very sorry to hear the news re Danny and Bert. Animals and pets give you some much in their lives don't they ? (we have a Dachshund called Norman) and when something happens it's very distressing. I guess it's all part of living and loving isn't it 😏. Glad to see you remain your lovely self. Oh Lor! So sorry you are having a time of it. I hope your remaining time with Danny is sweet. I have had to have one horse put down and it is hard. One part that was so so difficult was the children saying their goodbyes, but it was the right decision. I was very grateful to my oldest horse who I had from age 2 to age 30 as he died naturally one night and spared me the pain of having to decide. My thoughts are with you, and I hope you feel well soon.

So sorry to hear about Danny. Pets are such a worry! My dog was diagnosed with pancreatitis and diabetes a few months and went blind not long after, it was such a shock but he is doing well now. Hope you’re feeling better soon. Xxx

Poor Bert he’s my favourite. Our dog has fits sometimes 1 a year sometimes 6 months we just never know It is scary though. Sounds lovely having all those animals but hard work. Hope you feel better soon x

Hope you feel better, just got back from getting my booster after my son got it. Pets you get so attached, but you have to think of them and their quality of life. so so sad.

I understand how you feel about Bert. Our giant breed girl, a leonberger, (in my photo here) had her first fit when she was 4 yrs old. I didn't know what was happening and I was terrified that she was going to die. I was all on my own in the house. Rushed her to the vet and the prognosis was the same as Bert. Your vet should give him some blood tests to find out if there is a cause (parasites and mold can cause it) or something wrong in the brain. For Juno it turned out to be what is called ideopathic meaning "no known cause". Sadly she did go on to have seizures and has them regularly, but they are somewhat controlled with phenobarbitol. The physical jerking etc lasts for about a minute and then it takes her maybe 3 or 4 minutes to come back to us. She cannot see at first. Then she will be distressed afterwards for about 30 mins or so. Juno's always happen when she's asleep. It might help you to join a facebook group for canine epilepsy. I did and it was very helpful. There are lots of things y ou can do while they are seizing to help them. I always talk to Juno in a sing song voice and tell her it's OK and she's alright and that I am here. It is easier with a small dog because you can hold them but with a giant breed, you can only watch them thrash about. I try to make sure she's not somewhere that she can hurt herself. You never know, Bert might not have another fit. I hope not :-)

My GSD had an epileptic fit when his blood pressure dropped too low. He only ever had the one fit.

Hopefully you will feel better soon and it’s not covid.I’ve had covid for the past 5 days it started with a sore throat for 24 hrs no temperature but has felt like a pre covid virus now have an irritating cough luckily haven’t felt ill. Three vaccines and 2 yrs avoiding people and I still got it.My husband is negative! Sorry to hear about your animals sending hugs ❤️

Oh gosh fawn take care of yourself, its always hard with pets isn't it. When I had to have my dog put to sleep I swore I wouldn't have anymore and I don't think I will its too hard. I got stung yesterday by a dormant hornet and it is soooo painful so welcome to 2022 to me too. Take care
